  1. Nursing School Rejection Letters

For those of you that have received rejection letters for your nursing program, I have a question. Does your school give you a reason? The two schools I applied for is based on a point system. One of the schools let me know exactly what point rang...
  2. Sexual advances from a resident

I have been caring for this man for about a week now. He has been very nice to me and would occasionally flirt, but I didn't think anything of it. The other day I was finishing up doing perineal care on him and he asked me for a hug. I told him no, a...
  3. LPN Curriculum

I'm trying to understand what courses an LPN has to take to be an RN. I used to be in RN school and was dismissed from the program half way through it. I was not given the opportunity to challenge the NCLEX-PN. I did not get to take Mental Health or ...
  4. What grosses you out?

Definately oral care. The spitting into the emesis basin with food particles kills me. I can think about it and gag. Fingernail care is bad, too. I'll take anything else.
  5. I ended up failing all three of my courses in my second semester. It was just too much of a load. I was less than a point away from passing in two of the classes. It really depresses me because I would be graduating this fall with my associate degree...
  6. Was I right?

The CNAs where I work are so bossy. I don't know what it is.
  7. What drives you...?

    Ditto
  8. New CNA and need encouragement

I have been working part time in a LTC facility for a couple of weeks. This is my first CNA job. I have to care for 6-8 residents on my shift. This job is extremely hard for me. I'm constantly drinking because I get so thirsty in there. We not only h...
  9. I'm a CNA just because I want experience

Hey guys! I've never posted anything on the CNA board-this is my first time. I am a former nursing student that didn't quite make it through the obstacles of nursing school. I think a lot of my problem was lack of confidence in myself. After getting ...
  10. starting LPN program in Aug 2011..anyone else?

I'm seriously thinking about applying for the LPN program for this fall. I was in the ADN program back in 2009 but didn't make it. Congradulations to you all.
  11. I have always thought that passing meds was only in the scope of practice for nurses. I've been seeing a lot of threads on med techs, and just learned that CNAs with special training can pass meds in ALFs. I was just wondering about the CNAs that are...
  12. I'm a CNA just because I want experience

Good luck to you! You will do fine. I'm a little nervous about my first day, too. But I know it will all be worth it in the end.
  13. Do you all think med aides are bad idea?

I'm a CNA and I had two semesters of Nursing School. I took pharmacology and administered meds (parental and oral) in clinicals. I wonder if that would be training enough for me to be a med aide? Just wondering...
  14. Need some advice...fast

I have an interview at the hospital tomorrow for a PCA position. The problem is the roads around here are a sheet of ice. This is the south, so we don't get out much in this kind of weather. So my question is...should I try to make it for this interv...
  15. Need some advice...fast

    Me, too!
  16. Physical Assessment and Care plans

Can you do a good careplan without taking a physical assessment class? At our school, which is an ADN program, we don't take a physical assessment class until third semester. We done careplans in second semester and used data from the patient's chart...
  17. Is it better to start off as a CNA or LPN and work up to a RN? I was in an ADN program last year and was dismissed from the program because I did not pass two of my classes. Nearly a year has gone by and I'm still trying to figure out if I should att...
  18. Should I jump into an ADN program without any prior experience?

I failed second semester because it was just too much for me. I had a lot going on at home, too. I needed an 80 to pass, and I ended up making a 79.6 in med-surg and 78 in OB. Med-surg was just so much information to know in a short time, that I spen...
  19. Empathy? Patience? Good Attitude? I know all these traits are important, but what is the key trait to have as a nurse? I want to be a nurse and I just wonder if I have it in me.
  20. What is the most important trait to have as a nurse?

I guess that is a bad question. Just give me all the important qualities of a nurse.
  21. At my boiling point...you are NOT a Nurse...of ANY kind!!!!

The nurse manager at our office calls the MA's nurses.
  22. You can do it! I am your age and have twins myself. I went into the nursing program when they were nine months old. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past second semester. Now I am waiting until my twins go to school (in three more years) and i'm g...
  23. Failed ADN program, now trying for BSN

ok...i know there are millions of posts about bsns vs adns. i was a student in an adn program at a technical school and failed the courses in second semester. i averaged a 79.4 and had to have an 80 to pass. it was an extremely hard semester because ...
  24. Adderall and nursing school

I was on it when i got accepted, and it did show up on my test. I had to get the pharmacist to fax over my last prescription to the nurse at the lab, and she cleared it for me. You should be ok as long as you show the proof.
  25. Failing and Making Decisions

I failed my second semester, too, and I'm out for a year. It was one of the most disappointing things I ever experienced. But what made it worst was the lack of encouragement I received after I failed out. But regardless of that, I learned to pick...
