  1. I worked in a nursing home for 7 years, last being in 2002. I did MDS at that time. Since then I've been in another field. I signed up for the AANAC Basics class and if that works out I'll sign up for the certification with hopes of going into longterm care again. Figure will make me more marketable. Question is, will I be in for a rude awakening? How much has MDS changed?
  2. I took the pysch cert back last Nov. I missed by two questions. Was my fault as I only studied 10-15 hours based on other cert tests I've passed. Had I known my Erikson and Piaget stages I would have been ok. The test in Nov was based on the Psych and Mental Health(2nd edition). I then signed up to take again in April. In the meantime the 3rd edition came out. When I read through 3rd for first time I knew I was in trouble. Different from 2nd edition. Harder read. I changed my date to the last day eligible, studied 40+ hours and scored lower than in Nov. Congrats to you that pass this. I'm generally a good test taker but this was tough. Only issue is why the test is for basic psych and mental health and includes all for advanced practice. The book even tells you basic psych mental health not resposible and will never lead group therapy but test included 8-10 questions about group therapy. I know I'm crying in my beer but I really think the basic and advanced should be seperated.
  3. Its been a while but from what I remember questions were situational. What would you do in this given situation. One was what are long and short term goals of inmate newly diagnosed with HIV. Good Luck. Corrections different from nursing home, hospital, etc. And apparently there is a dress code just never talked about or enforced.
  4. :nurse:There is no official dress code but I think some of the suggestions above are applicable. I work nights and wear sweats and a T shirt or sweat shirt. In the summer I've worn shorts( I'm a male) on my weekend and a T without anyone ever calling me out. Most of the gals on days including super wear jeans and a decent top or scrubs which in my opinion are just thin sweats. There has been talk of a dress code but so far so good.
  5. I work for Wi Dept Corr. for quite a while. Also have hospital and longterm care exp. I really see any difference in inmate attitudes as I did in general public. Matter of fact I think I could toss a coin on many days as to who I would trust more, the inmates or management. The biggest problem is Madison dictating policy on something they don't have a clue about and it costs taxpayers SO MUCH MONEY plus makes our jobs much harder. But if they leave me alone it beats any of the other positions I've had.
  6. Work for Wi corrections. Have more than 10 years senioity and make 42/hr working nights. 25 vac days, 4.5 pers. holidays, 9holidays, and now 8 furlough days. Time one half on holidays and when over 40 hours week. We had one RN who was a weekender plus picked up a bunch of hours during week and made 225,000 in 08
  7. You can actually do it two ways. You can add 80ml of water. This would give you a total of 320ml of which 80ml(25%) is water. So you would be at the MD order of 3/4 strength. OR you could save or discard 60ml of tube feed solution and replace with 60ml of water. But option two here may be wasteful.
