  1. AAs are not capable of practicing independently and never will. PERIOD. Doesn't matter what you say or how you feel about it. CRNAs CAN and DO practice without a physician anesthesiologist in 49/50 states. Live with it.
  2. AAs don't understand and never will because they are not independent practitioners and never will be. ALL APRNs, including CRNAs, are trained to function as independent practitioners. AAs are not premed. it is not a requirement. They can have a degree in basket weaving and then take a few science courses and get accepted into school. AAs future also depends on physician anesthesiologist being around in the future so of course they are going to suck up to them.
  3. The title of the article is misleading. In no way are CRNAs trying to use the title of anesthesiologist alone, but are using the descriptor/title of NURSE Anesthesiologist. The title explains itself especially when the physicians changed their title to PHYSICIAN Anesthesiologist. And anesthesiology is not just a medical speciality. It is simultaneously a NURSING speciality and was a nursing speciality before it was a medical specialty.
  4. Ned, any housing suggestions for Santa Rosa?
  5. Just an update, I got my Cali license at exactly 6 weeks from turning in the paperwork and fingerprinting. And I did not turn in any extra transcripts. I'm heading to Santa Rosa, Ca in 2 weeks!
  6. I submitted mine in person and they only wanted transcripts from My nursing schools... Just FYI....
  7. Just an update, I flew to San Fran last week, did the Livescan l, and got my application turned in! :) Now time to play the waiting game!
  8. Yeah I understand. They do offer 13 week assignments too. I got my work and school schedule worked out where I can leave 2 weeks early in order to take a 13 week assignment. There are a lot more options for 13 weeks than the shorter ones.
  9. I've heard Nursechoice is good for short assignments and was recommended to me by a coworker. I plan on using them for my first assignment this summer.
  10. On the application, it only has enough room to write for 1 school. I received my ASN and BSN degrees. Which one should I list?
  11. Your awesome! I'll look for that message board that you mentioned as well, but I think you covered everything.
  12. Thanks for the great tips. I am potentially thinking about flying out there. If I do, can I hand deliver my application to the BON? I am looking to start my travel assignment the first week of May. Do you think there is enough time between now and beginning of April for it to get processed by mailing the fingerprints? How do they let you know you got approved? Just send you the license and it shows up in your mailbox one day? Last but not least, do they need my application first before my transcripts get there or can I go ahead and order those to get sent?
  13. They won't answer the phone or email me back. I believe you though. Thanks for your help!
  14. So I still need to pay the $49 fee then when I send in my application? And it still is going to take the longer amount of time, just if I do it this way, then I don't have to worry about them rejecting it because it is smudged is what you are saying? But If I wanted to, I could fly out to California and do it there to do it the quick electronic way without being a resident?
  15. Wow! Thank you for all of the great advice. I had read online that you had to reside in Cali to do the Livescan there, but I will look into the Florida one to send it out to Cali. Can I go ahead and do the Fingerprinting now before they probably process my application?
  16. Does anyone know if I can just go to the local FBI office (There is one in Jacksonville, FL) to get the finger printing card and have them do it there to mail in with my application? I requested it from the Cali BON over 3 weeks ago and has never arrived in the mail. Do I need to submit the application and the finger printing card at the same time or can they be mailed separately? Any other suggestions for speeding up the process on getting my license by endorsement in California? Thanks, Cody
  17. I will be a first time traveler and hopefully taking a position in Boston in May 2014. I was wondering what others have done for cheap housing there? Or if anyone else will be traveling there at the same time, if they would want to share some type of housing. Any suggestions would be great! Cody
  18. These were my grades and scores on the classes and tests AnP I - C Microbiology - A Micro lab - B Statistics - A General Psych- A English 101 - A I'm not sure what Class I used for the fine arts/humanities class AnP II - B Anp II Lab - B Nutrition - A Developmental Psych - A HESI Math - 94% Reading - 94% My tips would be to make sure you get the best grades possible and do well on the hesi because thats where you can get the most points on your application if you do not have high grades, make sure and take those extra classes they offer for points. and join the SNA, thats an easy 5 points. The application is pretty easy since its laid out for you how much everything is worth. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask!
  19. Yeah I got mine on Saturday as well an got in. I had 74 points.
  20. Congrats to you!! Add me on facebook. Cody Hambleton university of Louisville is my network.
  21. I got in!!!!! and since you had more points than me, I'm assuming you will also get in!! =)
  22. Yeah that us my plan too if I don't get in is to work a year then reapply. I'm trying to get a job at shands but I seem to be having a hard time. I have experience but can't seem to get an interview.
  23. I posted this on the wrong thread so IDK if you ever saw it, but here is my old post It's literally killing me! lol I need to know like NOW. I don't want to wait 3 more weeks. I did hear there were 300 applicants, but I did not know they were taking less people than last year. I believe I had either 74 or 78 points, I am not sure. I thought the EVOLVE/REACH exam was very easy. I got 94% on both sections. Good luck to you too and hopefully we both make it! Write back on here and let me know as soon as you get your letter so I know mine is coming! lol
  24. We should be getting our letters by Monday!! I'm super nervous. I'll post on here as soon as I get it and let me know if you get in too!
