  1. I'm in the same boat. I've been working in a post-acute care center for 8 months and though I am very happy to have a job, it is not acute care and I just don't know where to turn to get into a hospital. It seems no one cares about post-acute experience. How the heck are we supposed to get acute care experience if no one will hire people without it?!?! Anyway, good luck to all of us!! I am just trying to stay positively motivated :) Supposedly after we get the first year or so acute experience we are set for life, jobs coming out our ears! God bless the under-experienced!!
  2. I got my BSN online through Chamberlain. Great program and no it isn't a problem when applying for jobs. There are no clinicals when going from RN to BSN, but to get your masters might be a different story. I would be weary of on online MSN program, unless they have clinicals incorporated into the program. Good luck!
  3. Thank you so much! I'll probably end up going there. I'm also going to be taking Italian studies because I'll be living in Italy while I'm taking the BSN courses on line, so can you tell me realistically (compared to nursing school) how intense it is and how much time I can expect to dedicate to it? Just don't want to overload myself... Also, if you don't mind telling me how much it cost compared to other school? Sorry all the questions!
  4. I'm looking to enroll in an RN to BSN online program... any suggestions?? I am seriously looking into Chamberlain, so any feedback on them would be much appreciated, but all or any advise would help. Thanks!
  5. Thank you for your advise! I will definitely be looking into the online BSN programs. I really appreciate your advise :)
  6. Thank you! Yeah I'm so excited but I'm also feeling apprehensive because I just spent all that time in school and I'm afraid I will not be able to find a job if I take time off... I do feel better though that they offer refresher courses. Thank you!
  7. I graduated last October and can't find a job anywhere, so I have an opportunity to move to Italy for a year and I think I'm going to take it but I am worried about taking the time off from nursing practice... Does anyone know how this will affect my getting hired later on down the line and what I will need to do to get back into it? Like a refresher course??
  8. Good luck with Harper, I just finished their nursing program... with a few extra gray hairs than I started with
  9. When you say you applied to the new grad residency program, do you mean you applied specifically to that? Or you filled out an application for a specific job and upon hiring you you are now in the new grad program?? I'm a new grad too and all the hospitals I've looked into have said that you have to fill out applications on line and if you're hired, then they set up orientation for you. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything since finding a job as a new grad is near impossible these days!! -Thanks

  11. Hi all!! I'm a new grad and I feel like I've hit a wall with looking for a job... I've filled out countless on-line applications and like we all know, everyone wants experience. But how are you supposed to get a year experience if EVERYONE wants a year experience!!?? Anyway, I'm lost at this point with where to look, any advise on where I should be looking, who I should be calling, if I should go in to hospitals rather than apply on-line?? Any advise much appreciated :) Thanks!
  12. Thank you so much I am going to check it out!!:)
  13. I am a new nurse in the US and am moving to Florence in August, was wondering if anyone knew about the requirements to nurse out there and if I would be able to transfer... Any advise/ information is appreciated :)
