I take the remote proctoring test this Monday. When I watch the instruction videos from ATI, it informs me that I'll have to get an assessment code from my instructor. A little confused on this one. I registered at a college here, but the school is based in Utah. Do I hit that search for the proctoring button under the test tab on the ATI site to get started on the day of the test? I've already downloaded the chrome extension. Any advice you may have is greatly appreciated.

I work at a residential, partial care and intensive outpatient facility in Southern Ca. I am the ONLY LVN on duty. Medical records get signed off by an RN that works from home. MD and PSYD come weekly if there is an admit. Other than that....I'm on my own as well.

Welp...OneLegacy called me this Friday for a job interview. There were two full time positions available when I checked the site today. Now there is only one spot left. I guess someone got one job already. Initially I was scheduled to interview on the 16th but couldn't due to work. They were very flexible and scheduled me for 4pm on the 23rd. If I hear anything else about the job, or if I get it....I'll post. Also, I found it strange on the application that there was not a spot that asked about military service. I went ahead and annotated it in the additional skills area of the application.

I've recently applied with OneLegacy in Los Angeles for a Referral Process Coordinator position. The requirements were either a LVN, Paramedic, or Surg Tech with medical terminology and work in the medical field. This position is the liasion between the agency and the hospital. We will see how it goes. I have my LVN license and 9 years of military training in various office positions and that is about it. We will see how it goes. If I do manage to get an interview, perhaps I can post some info. I do understand that this is an old post. I know this may not be an issue right now.....but please, save the snide remarks for another place. Too many times I read other Nurses respond with snide remarks and it's quite disheartening at times.

Hey, Jmira.... Thanks for the PM offer. I'm currently at work, but will shoot you off a pm tomorrow. I have read the thread since page one; so most of my questions were already answered. I'm just curious as to wether or not the program received the ACEN (formerly NLN) nod for accreditation. And if you feel your education prepped you for NCLEX. Gonna hit ya up tomorrow to ask clinical site questions. Thanks again!

Actually, to work for the Veterans Affairs, you need to come from a NLN or CCNE program. It stated clear as day on their job postings. A few jobs also list this. So, it just depends on where you want to work and if they require it. So if you go to PCC, you can't work for the VA Hospital.

One more thing.... Please read the whole thread before you fly off the handle about me "seeking" out a recruiter. It is clearly stated it was at a career fair. The recruiter came to my classroom to present. I had no choice but to sit there.

Actually, I was at a career info session and the recruiter ca to my location. I only went to a recruiting office to get a brochure. And it wasn't a healthcare recruiter btw. So no, I didn't waste anyone's time.

AshleySable, The info from the state board you are receiving are for approved programs. You are correct there. That means the school meets the standard to have you sit for the NCLEX. Accredited programs mean that the school has gone above and beyond the approval of the state board to offer more quality education. In a nutshell, approved just meets the minimum standard, while accredited goes above the standard. You may be right, in that it will not matter to you. However, take into consideration where you want to work, and if they need you to come from an accredited program. I personally will chose an accredited program as I feel it will not limit me so much job wise. I would rather graduate from a program that goes above the standard rather than just meeting it. But that's me. Look into the schools admitting info and see if you need to come from an accredited program to get in. Some schools will ask for you to come from an accredited program with a ADN. it's better if you do... That way you don't repeat classes. There are tons of threads on here about the subject. Unfortunately you have to search them all. You can also get on the ACEN and CCNE websites to read more about accreditation and what it means. I sincerely hope this helps you out a bit. I'm not trying to be discouraging and hope I don't come off that way.

Thank you to the OP for this post. The responses you have solicited have made my evening. BTW, I'm a newborn nurse... Not even a newbie. I just passed NCLEX on 22 July. :) how many years do I have to put in to be considered "seasoned"? Not "haggard"... "Seasoned". :)

True....there is a lot of info here if you search the threads. That being said... The ARMY has a sign on bonus of quite a lote of money. Also, there is the loan repayment program that they offer. Please talk with a recruiter to get more information. Take that information and double check it online. Recruiters are numbers people and will say almost anything to make you sign. The military is a great place to grow career wise if you want to make it a career choice. I'm a little sorry I left after so long. I miss it. Anyhow, if you are thinking of the service, check the physical fitness standards for your age group and gender. Ensure you can meet the standard for the Officer Basic Course (OBC). If not, you should start now! Trust me... It'll pay off in the long run. One of the first things a recruiter will look at is to see if you cancer ht and wt standards and pass the fitness test. Please look at the ACEN website, a majority of the schools you have posted are not accredited. For example, PCC is not accredited but has a good program. If you can, please look at the places where you want to work and look at the job requirements. For example: the Veterans Affairs will not hire nurses unless they are from an accredited program. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, it's just that I am in the same situation. From what I have seen online, there are about 4 CCs near Pasadena (where i live) that are accredited. I plan to get my masters and work for the VA, so this accreditation has a big impact on where I will go. Either way, I wish you the best with your education :))

Greetings! The VA does hire LVNs but you need experience to get in. No new grads. School is nothing like AIT. you are on a regular schedule. I managed to get 8 hrs of sleep every school night and managed to graduate with honors. You get what you put into it. Only you know how you study and what you need sleep wise. Make sure your school is accredited and that your classes are transferable since you'd need to be an RN to be a flight nurse. I was a 74D NCO with a L5 ASI. CBRN Recon. My last assignment was a BN Operations NCO/ BN CBRN NCO for over 500. You'll find that school might be a breeze as far as setting your priorities and being on time with home work and for clinicals. It's just that military mentality we have that sometimes gives us an upper hand. I wish you all the best in your studies and career. I highly recommend the Soldiers Project if you are having trouble adjusting to civilian life and nursing school. Free counseling never hurts. I used it to help with my adjustment of over 8 years of service. Kind of hard to go from running a 500 person BN to dealing with a class of 30 civilians.

Does GCU allow you to have your clinicals and theory side by side for each particular subject as required by the board of Nursing with the state? If so, that's great! Good luck with Everest and I hope you guys do receive the ACEN accreditation!!!!

Gee wiz Josie! Would you like a side of bitter with your meal? I've read your previous posts and you seem quite negative. You get what you put out of West Coast. It seems what you are observing only pertains to your situation. I know several WCU RNs at hospitals and new grad programs at university hospitals. And your comment about half clinical days may not be entirely true. How do you know those students were not on to another location? Just because someone goes to a CC, does not mean they are respected more. Do you know there are only a handful of community colleges that have gone the extra step of accreditation with the ACEN? get on their website and do some research before you run off of your personal feelings.
