  1. Congrats on the job! My interview is today for a Nurse consultant position in Community Health. I'm really nervous. i HATE interviews. I worked in home health for years. I loved it! The part I liked most was that I had flexibility and was not stuck in one place all day. You have to be super organized and able to work independently.
  2. Did you get the job? I have an interview on Friday for a job with the state.
  3. I am a nurse re-entering the field after being away for 9 years. I have completed a re-entry course and applied to the unit where I did my preceptorship. Had 3 interviews only to be told no thanks we want someone with more recent experience. I have my MSN and was a PNP and I can't get hired. I have even applied at places where I have been previously employed with no luck. I have never had this much rejection before. I am starting to take it personally. I am glad to hear that maybe it's not me but the market.
  4. Thanks! I sent a thank you to the recruiter and the nurse manager by email. I never actually met the recruiter and didn't have her email but I sent one to her firstname.lastname@___.org. I think I will send it to the HR general email as well. I looked on the website and the position is no longer posted. Hope that is a good sign that I am the one they will hire. I am supposed to hear next week. Thanks again for the supportive posts!!
  5. Be prepared for behavior based interview. I have just had a couple of interviews. Here are some questions that I was asked: Tell me about a time when your manager made a decision you disagreed with. What actions did you take and why? Tell me about a time when you had to deal with an irate physician, patient, employee etc. How did you handle it and what was the result? Describe a situation where you advocated for a patient. What was the outcome. Describe a time where you contributed to solve a problem such as staffing or cost containment. What was the result. Tell me what you would do if you finished your duties early or if you had a light patient load. How would you handle a situation where the unit was short staffed?
  6. Thanks for the reply. I guess it can't hurt?
  7. I had an interview on Tuesday. Today is Friday. Is it too late to send a thank you to the nurse manager. I did not realize that you are supposed to send a thank you within 24 hours of the interview:uhoh3: I have had a total of three interviews for this position. The first was a brief phone interview with the nurse recruiter to discuss my experience and interests. I applied for several positions. The second was Tuesday 1/12 with the NM and and assistant head nurse. They seemed very interested. The NM stated that there were 5 applicants being considered. I was the first interview. She said she would probably interview one more and that's it. I REALLY want this job!! I had my 3rd interview today by phone with the nurse recruiter- she had to reschedule last minute after I already arrived yesterday. I plan to send a thank you to her today. Sooo, would it be lame to send a thank you now to the NM? It's been 3 days since the interview. Is it too late? Could this cost me the job?
  8. Good luck with your interview! I am also interviewing for my dream job. I am a re-entry nurse who has been out of nursing for 8 years. I have had 3 interviews for this position. 1st was with the nurse recruiter phone interview to find out my experience and interests. Then I interviewed with the NM and assistant head nurse. The questions were behavior based which is new to me. Be prepared to answer questions based on your experience. Some examples: Explain how you advocated for a patient and what was the outcome? Explain how you have gone out of your way to provide customer care for a patient? Explain a change in policy that you did not agree with and how did you handle it? Describe a difficult situation with patient or family member how did you handle it? What was the outcome? These are just a few that I can remember. I had my 3rd interview today with the nurse recruiter.
