I don't think people understand how hard it is to find work as a new grad there may be lots of jobs but they don't seem interested in hiring a new grad

No I didn't, but I am kinda glad because I ended up getting an interview and job at a home health agency and I love it!

It depends. Most around here want 1 year experience. However, there was one that didn't require but preferred some experience.

We needed a 75 to pass and a 74.999 was failing. No amount of pleading would help the student that made less than exactly 75.

Well no one answered this in time for the interview but In case someone comes to this thread looking for the same answers as me, they asked questions about handling angry or upset patients, how I felt about being put somewhere to work that I didn't normally work, and they were very impressed that I knew all the services they offered and they didn't need to explain them to me (I researched it on their website before the interview). I talked to someone that said one of the questions they were asked was what services does the health department offer. If anyone has an interview at a health department and wants to know anything else about my interview feel free to ask.

There are a million reasons that you are right for feeling like you should do something. Change starts with one person. The squeaky wheel gets oiled. He is young and needs someone to be that person that stands up for him to make sure something changes. Please please keep us updated and no matter how the school may make you think your overreacting your gut and a forum full of nurses knows your not!

i have an interview at the local health department here in tn. i am wondering what i should expecct, what type of questions they will ask, and any questions i should ask them. more than anything i would like to know what questions i will be asked.

I just graduated back in may. I am not working in a burn unit but i was able to rotate through a burn unit at UF shands. I LOVED the experience. It wasnt anything like i expected and before it was over i wanted to work a burn unit. however at the time they were not hiring so no chance for me. I hope to eventually end up in a burn unit. It is a dream job for someone interested in wound care and that type of nursing.

forgot to mention but the school i went to was in florida

i didnt go to Baptist but that sounds just like my school. I just graduated in may from a community college nursing school and it was the same there. Alot of people failed out in adult 1 and then a good amount more in 2. when we asked why this is the instructors told us that a school that curns out good nurses has a higher failure rate. food for thought..... i didnt think it was a good reason myself
