  1. I too am moving to Chicago from Cali but for different reasons. Are you moving for school? You couldn't get into a program in cali? I know I'm assuming just curious.
  2. Are you all transfer students or straight from H.S.?
  3. I worked med/surg for 3 yrs and switched over to an outpatient clinic (county). First I was miserable because it was boring and the politics suck. But I got used to weekends and holidays off. I can't see myself going back. Don't know why you dislike it so much (is it the work or the work environment) but I also suggest trying home health (not hospice). There are many agencies out there. If you have medical insurance thru you hubby's job you can work per diem and you know that's the best pay. Do you have enough experience to work med/surg thru a registry? They make top dollar. You can make $800-1000 with 2 shifts. I know it's hard to break away from a place, even when we're miserable. We need the money. But you're not helping yourself or the patients you assist by staying. They jobs are out there it just takes a little digging around to find them. Hope it helps!
  4. Thank you. Didn't know you had to live in the city limits to work for county. Will keep that in mind.
  5. Hope someone can give me a little insight. I've been a nurse for 12yrs now. 3 yrs med/surg experience. Currently 8 yrs in county outpatient health center. I earn $6,400/month, gross. Could I expect to earn anything close to that if I relocate to the Chicago area? After all I've been reading about Chicago salaries, I'm starting to doubt it. I knew I'd take a pay cut, just didn't realize how bad it would be. Thanks.
  6. Nursing programs in cali are impacted.
  7. I'm not sure what the highest level of accreditation is (there in Il), just make sure the school is accredited by the right agency.
