  1. I had to update my information, so when the advisor emailed me back, she said we will be notified via email by the end of the week...I hope that's accurate!!
  2. I applied for Family DNP for the fall. I am anxiously awaiting! Last year they heard the first week of March. So hopefully that will be around the same timeframe for this year!!
  3. For those of you who just started and went to RISE this fall, how it is going!!? :)
  4. Newbie23, I totally understand how you feel. I am on a progressive care floor now. I am planning to apply to u of a this fall too! So lets stay in touch this fall! :) I read "they accept everybody" but I am not sure how true that is. I can only imagine how competitive it is, so I doubt they accept everyone. Are you planning on working full time throughout the program?
  5. Oh oh my mistake! Well I am sure it is similar! Do you like the online format?
  6. Mom To 4, I am planning on applying this fall. Do you have any advice about apply to get the best shot of being accepted? I am applying to ASU and they informed me it is "very competitive." Any advice would be much appreciated? So far, how is the program? Are you working full time? Thank you!!!
  7. Please keep updating this as you go to RISE next month and how the fall goes. I am applying for the fall 2014, I would love to hear how it is going for you guys. :)
  8. Oh, I see. Well, I am hoping that the people who got in will share their experiences. There are so many options since the DNPs are all online, you really have to do research on which ones are worth the money! Are you from AZ? With Duke, do you need to find your own preceptors? Thanks for all your info! :)
  9. I wonder how the program runs with so many accepted. It's pretty much all online so maybe that's why they are able to accept so many. I was planning on applying to more schools just in case though! What other schools did you apply to and end up selecting? I figured U of A would be a great school considering their primarily ground BSN program and their medical schools are both highly ranked.
  10. I am very interested in this program and will be applying this fall. Just wanted to know what everyone thought of the application process, in terms of competitiveness? I will probably end up applying to both ASU and U of A, U of A is definitely my first choice. Any advice? Congratulations, I hope to be where you all are in a year! :)
  11. That's weird. I wonder why its all the same day!? Did you get the email about the schedule? It's not too bad.. It is going to be the longest drive in the mornings though that's for sure. I haven't ordered the books or scrubs yet because I heard to wait until orientation? Should I go ahead and get everything or just wait? Stresssful!
  12. Just to make sure I read that email correctly…the orientation on the 9th from 9-1 is for everyone who is fast track @ GCU. Then the AT Still group has their orientation right after, @ John C Lincoln from 1-4?? So we'll drive from GCU right to John C Lincoln? I was originally told AT Still would have theirs on the 16th. Hmm...
  13. I have my bachelors as well, and I thought about doing the community college route (I applied June 2010). However, the waitlist is now easily 2-3 years before you even start the 2 year program, hence I have been waiting for a year and I have not been offered a spot to start yet. Because you have a degree already, I would again highly recommend doing the university route. If ASU is out for you (they are starting their post-bachelors nursing program the spring of 2012) then look into GCU. I looked into GCU last fall, completed the prereqs in the spring and applied with them. Luckily, I am starting with them in the fall, for their fast track program!! It is expensive...but there weren't too many options for me, I am in the East Valley. I will have a BSN, and my RN AND working by the time some of my friends begin their ADN programs. Just depends on what you you want to do, and how much time you want to spend. Good luck!
  14. The first 5-8 weeks are there, then its back to At Still University in the Mesa/Gilbert area, for the remainder of the program
  15. I am! Its going to be over an hour commute for me..but I'm excited!! And Im excited to have a schedule!
  16. Yes I had a C in bio 202. My overall gpa was still a 3.5, decent teas scores, and I had a previous degree so I am not sure how much all that together helped, but I did have a C. You should be fine!
  17. Well I have an appointment on Monday to see if I have everything they need, so I can be cleared. Fingers crossed! I cannot wait until we get schedules! Johnnyarei, I got your email and I responded but I don't think I did it through this website, so I am not sure if you ever got it! But to answer your question, the application overall at GCU went really smooth. My counselor seemed to handle most of the required paperwork and I just turned in my transcripts and passed the TEAS! I just graduated from ASU so they did consider me to be a second degree bachelor student, which I have heard is helpful in the selection for the program, but plenty of people without previous degrees have made it in just fine. I was in the 80's on the TEAS and a 3.5 gpa. There is a scholarship based on pre reqs classes. 3.25 is 1500 per semester, 3.5 is 2500 per semester, and 3.7 is 3500 per semester. So it does help! I am in the AT Still Day program. So I know our class times are a bit different than the night/weekend program at Scottsdale, like 8 to 11 or 8 to 2, three times a week, plus a clinical. But I think if you apply to either campus you have a pretty good shot! The AT Still campus took 25 applicants, and I am sure that is similar to Scottsdale. Good luck! I haven't started yet but I have heard lots of good things, so I am excited!
  18. No!!! I have been trying to get a hold of someone to make the appt and ask some questions just to make sure and I haven't reached anyone. Well I did the two step exactly 1 year ago, so maybe the 1 test would work? Hopefully! I just want to be registered!
  19. Has everyone finished the immunization requirements? Im almost done. But I have a question, last year I got the 2 step TB skin test, and it expires this month. So can I just do the one TB skin test rather than two? I have the documentation from last year, I just wanted to finish everything this week! And schedule the appt to turn everything in!
  20. What are the rules for missing and making up class times and clinicals? I recently found out I am going to be dealing with some health "issues" during the first semester so I am hopeful that nothing will cause me to miss anything, but I am just curious to know the options for such events. Thanks!
  21. Also, what is the policy for missing or making up clinical and class time? As I said before the first 8 weeks we go to a different campus, that is about 40 miles from me. I am praying for no issues commuting, but like this morning awful accidents on the 60 and 10 cause massive delays, even at 6 in the morning!
  22. Oh my! Ya I am pretty nervous! I am at the At Still campus, but the first 8 weeks we are at John C Lincoln. I knew there would be alot of reading! Is the information hard? My friend finished her first semester at u of a and she was at first overwhelmed and then it seemed to get better. Did you spend alot of time on class? The schedules I've heard about doesn't seem too bad. Should I try and do anything to prepare this summer? I saw what you said about the math...ah its scary to start!
  23. Hi GCUJen! I just got accepted to the fast track for the fall. Which level are you in now? How was the first semester? I am so nervous to start, and so grateful that someone who is farther along in the program has responded! I wish I could take UNV303 and the Christian worldview before but I think only 1 is starting in July. I am thinking about taking them both in the first 8 weeks of level 1, before the clinicals start. But yes please continue with your advice!!!! I know I need it! Thank you!!
  24. TLK879, I just took the NUR 207 in the spring semester. The book we used was: Interpersonal Relationships: Professional Communication Skills for Nurses by Elizabeth C Arnold and Kathleen Underman Boggs. 5th Edition. The book is green with a white banner. I got mine at Amazon for $10 probably! Good luck! And yes, I had NO idea we had to take UNV (I already have a degree!!) and the religion course. So annoying. But I will probably try and take them both as soon as I can in the program. My counselor told me they are 8 weeks online. They recommend doing the UNV in the first level, and the religion in the 4th. But I may just want to knock those out so I won't have anything else to worry about!
  25. There is a website. Apparelprousa.com and I guess gcu has a link and that's where we order our stuff. However they said to wait for orientation before you do all that...I think they are a dark purple
