  1. Don't worry about your failed plan. Nursing prerequisites are challenging....No way can you take them all at once! I'm guessing that you are worried about how long your education is going to take...My advice to you is this: slow and steady wins the race; just keep taking classes, not too many at one time (your GPA is super important!) and you will reach your goal. The couple of years it takes to get your prereq's done will fly by... (and more importantly, will fly by whether you take classes or not). Get going and good luck!
  2. Thanks to all who replied with such good info! I appreciate the input!
  3. not sure how to ask this question because it may sound like i am worried about getting good nursing care. first let me say i admire nurses and have a tremendous respect for their patient centered approach to medical care. i am going to have a valve replacement in june and i'm concerned about being so helpless in the icu. what can i,or my family do to make sure i am safe and comfortable? i ask because the hospital is known for being understaffed, which is certainly not the fault of the nursing staff but surely affects the care they are able to provide. also... i am really concerned about hospital acquired infection but i just don't think i can ask any medical professional doctor or nurse to wash their hands if they have not done so!!!! it seems rude and disrespectful even though i know how important it is! thanks for any input
  4. I'm in ! Looking forward to meeting all of you at the orientation! Annie Boehm
  5. What is this about a white-board? Will there be a list of accepted students posted? Has anyone stopped by the Nursing Office to take a look? My interview group was told that we would hear by Mid-April.. after Spring Break! I got a call a day or so ago from the "regular" admissions office because they had a question about one of my classes taken out of state.... I'm thinking it was a good sign that they were even asking!
  6. Nice to hear that I am not the only one who spent hours and hours re-labeling blank worksheets! The repetition really helps! My husband scanned images directly from the texts and then blanked out the labels and names using PhotoShop (He is a very good sport!) I also ended up making lots and lots of flashcards. I think the stack was about a foot tall for Anatomy and about 2 feet tall for Physiology. Crazy! All of my studying was very time/ labor intensive and I often wondered if there was a more efficient way to do it, but it worked for me... A's in both classes with a VERY demanding instructor. I do not have the link to any of the websites that I used, but several colleges have very good Anatomy sites with models to study; I think Palomar college was a good one. Good luck!
  7. This was a great question to ask. Thanks to all of you who responded. I'm excited to start this Fall!
  8. I just turned 50 and am hoping to be accepted into a BSN program in the fall. I have been taking my prerequisites at community college, a class at a time and have a 4.0 gpa. I have been the oldest student in all of my classes but I just can't worry about that. While the younger students have way more energy than I do, I am a hard worker with good life experience. I encourage all of us older students...after all 50 is the new 30....right?
  9. Hi All, I'm taking the TEAS for the first time on Jan 13 at CSULB. Does anyone know if this test is given online at LB or is it pencil and paper? Is it all multiple choice or is some of it " fill in the blank" ? Any and all info would be welcome! Thanks.
