UD MERCY - Just got my acceptance letter!!
Congratulations on your acceptance to U of D Mercy. You might like staying in Oak Park, Royal Oak, or Southfield which are pretty close to U of D Mercy I am working on my requirements now. My goal is to get accepted to the Jan 2011 Class. I went to the orientation for the SDO everything sounded great to me. The school does have a high ranking. Although the cost is up there. We must remember you will be a RN nurse in 12 months. As an RN you will surely make the money back. Being an RN opens so many doors. 313RN could you please send me an email on what advice you would give on successfully completing the SDO program at U of D Merch. thanks.

Taking a leap of faith and am officially changing careers
I too have made a Career Change! due to economic disaster of Financial Banking Lending Industry. The career which I come from. When I was in college sometime ago working on my Bachelors . I worked as a Nurse Aide on a part time basis. I really liked it . I thought then I might pursue the Medical Field but some of the science classes seem to be to much. So I received a degree in Business. I have always had a passion for wanting to help people. At this present time I do volunteer work in our Nursing Home Ministry at my church. Now I am working on my requirements for Nursing School. I truly feel this is the Career I am suppose to be in. So far, I am doing well in my science classes. This is a leap of faith for me too. I truly pray as I take each science class. I am also learning how to study for my science class. Which is to study on a daily basis, practice , practice your homework questions.. I also have received my Certification as a Nurse Aide and have taken, Patient Care Technician classes. I would like to work at a hospital as a PCT while working on my nursing school requirements. I truly look forward to going to Nursing School. OH how joyful, I will be when I graduate from Nursing Shool and am Officially an RN. I see it is one step at a time. I cheer you on and all my fellow Nurse students that are and to be. WE CAN DO IT! ( WITH GOD'S HELP)

CNA Knowledge Test
The National Test which I am taking is for Patient Care Technician. It requires you to be CNA state certified , and you have to have taken classes in phlebotomy and EKG. I had to get my CNA certification to take my National Test for Patient Care Technician. I don't think there is a National Test for CNA only the state test.

CNA Knowledge Test
Your correct handwashing , indirect care is automatic. The other 3 skills will be choosen for you. You will not know what those skills will be. Just read over your instructions you received from the State of Michigan Certified Nurse Aide Information Bulletin very carefully. This tells you everything.

CNA Knowledge Test
Hello: From my experience my clinical skills were choosen by the computer when I arrived. You don't know what skills you will be tested on. It is just best to study and practice your skills. When you do your clinicals take your time and think as your doing your skills . If you get nervous just breathe and take your time. You have 2 hrs to do your clinicals. If you pass your clinicials then you will take your knowledge test. On your knowledge test really read the questions good. You must pick the best answers. I myself felt my test did have some tricky questions. I have reread my cna manual. I will do well when I retake my knowledge test. Practice and study now up to Jan 4th . I believe you will do Well. God Bless!

CNA Knowledge Test
I passed my Clinicals test But I have to retake my knowledge test. I was very shocked". I reread the questions and answers 3 times. I don't know if it was nerves of what! I did poorly on the part of Basic Nursing Skills and Providing Specialized Care. I came home reread my cna book for questions that I wasn't sure of but my book didn't cover the questions. I do Home Health Care, I have passed all my PCT classes ( CNA, Phlembotomy and EKG). Can anyone provide any books I can get to read to help me pass my Knowledge test for CNA. or Any suggestions to help me pass the CNA knowledge Test. Awaiting my letter so I can reschedule to retake. Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Patient Care Techician Jobs
Hello Everyone! I just completed my training as a Patient Care Technician . I take my National Test for PCT on Dec 18th. In the past few months I have seen job posting for PCT's at DMC and ST Johns. They are all asking for experience as a PCT. I have a few months experience as a Home Care Aide where I have taken vitals, personal care bathing, feeding...(cna work), but this has been on a on call basis only. The company has not been that busy. Could someone tell where can I get hired as a PCT without experience as a PCT at a hospital. I want to start work so I can save for Nursing School. I am taking my nursing school requirements now. I would like to work at Providence in Southfield sp I wouldn't have a commute. But if other hospitals are hiring thats great too. Also, can you tell me what is the pay range of PCT's. Thanks for the help and information. Shirl.
