PCA/CNA whatever jobs, Columbus area
Hi! Although I'm in Indiana, not Ohio, when I was trying to get certified, I sat down with the phone book and called every nursing home and hospital in my area. Everyone that I talked to told me..."I got vertified here, but they are doing it any more." And when I called and they told me no, I would ask them if they knew of any one that was offering the class. I finally found a Nursing Home that had a class, but I had to work for them for 6 months and the class was free. After that I went to a community hospital, which was better. Good luck!!!

Rules that make you go Hmmmmm...
One of our midnight CNA's who's been there for 15 years and has seen everything, according to her wheres the same pair of gloves from room to room when she first gets there to do her vitals! I saw, new pair of gloves for each room/patient!!! Thats a great way to spread more germs!!! And she usually has about 15 patients.

Average CNA salary?
In NW Indiana, at a nursing home $7.50. I'm at a hospital now (PCA, Patient Care Assistant instead of CNA, pretty much same thing) $9.59 and a $.50 raise this month.

hairstyles on nurses....your opinion
I have semi-long hair that I always pull it back. On holidays when we dress down I've tried to wear it down and after 10 minutes, it was all the way up. Some people have long hair and wear it down almost every day and they have never are asked to put it up. I think it should be out of everyones face. It drives me nuts!!!!

how much Indiana nurses make
I live in northwest Indiana and I just started last week as a CNA at a nursing home making $7.50, but I was told that the hospital down the street will pay about $10 an hour. I was making $11.50 at my last job....as a secretary!

Nursing as a second career
I dont know how much help I'm gonna be.... I'm switching to nursing from Inerior Design. I woke up one morning and hated design. Ive always wanted to help people, and not by telling them what colors they should put in their house. I have 2 classes left with this program and as soon as thats done, its off to nursing school. Im only 20 and have already changed my mind once, and I dont think I will ever do it again. Good luck!!!!! What are you switching from? Andrea

Just how many nurses from IL do we have here at allnurses?
Technically my house is in Indiana, about 15 minutes from the Illinois border, but I've worked in Chicago for 2 years now, I go to school in Chicago, and I temporarily live in Glendale Heights (for another 5 months), so I'm sorta in Illinois!

A career change -- I need help!!!
I'm in the middle of a huge career change myself. Currently I'm in an interior design specialty school, that my mom and fiance are making me finish. I have this semester and 2 classes in the summer. I absolutely hate it! I'm doing full-time school and part time work and it's ok, but I wish I could do full for both. If you want the change I say go for it!!! Good luck!!!!
