  1. Okay, so I haven't even started school yet and I'm already worried about lack of sleep, lost family time, lack of social life, etc. Please give me some words of encouragement. Does anyone like school? Do you find it rewarding, exciting, sometimes fun? Thanks for any positive words you can share with me!
  2. Thanks for the info. DILSMOM!

I did not find the TEAS test difficult. I purchased the study manual and found that it was actually harder than the test itself. Sounds like you'll do fine.
  4. REI is a store that sells outdoor clothing and equipment - they sell backpacking, cycling, climbing, camping equip. and much more. Look for them online to find merchandise or to look for a store near you.
  5. Bought these pants in a small - how much shrinkage should I expect?
  6. WOW! That sounds like a very heavy course load. Not to discourage you, but the English and Math, even if you don't find them difficult, are time consuming. A&P requires some investment of your time (lots of memorization), and it's important that you get good grades in your science courses. With that being said, if you feel confident that you have the time, best wishes! I took A&P II, micro, and another class, in one semester. I found general chem to be very different than the other "nursing" science courses. Organic chem is a good class to take as a pre-req to micro. HTH and good luck =)
  7. Wish I could help you, but I am currently taking that class too.
  8. Yuriy, Congrats to you! You will definitely be busy with 5 kids, wow! See you at orientation =)
  9. Sorry Stinebean I also applied to ARC and SCC and was rejected to both. I received my rejection letter yesterday from SCC and the one from ARC a couple of weeks ago. It is very difficult to get into those lottery programs since there are a CRAZY amount of applicants. I did get into Sac State, which was my first choice, so I'm happy about that. It's nice that you can apply to Sac State next semester since they will once again be open to outside applicants. Best wishes and hang in there!
  10. I don't know of any online courses for A&P, but I do know some people that took it in 8 weeks over the summer. Speaking for myself, I don't think I would be able to do it in 8 weeks. There is a TON of information and LOTS to memorize. I'm not sure I would've been able to really learn the material in 8 weeks, and this is material that you need to understand. I also found lab to be an essential aspect of A&P. The models, charts, slides, cadaver, etc. that are available in the lab were incredibly useful in helping me understand the concepts.
  11. Thanks for the PM - I would love to PM back, but I don't have the required 15 posts yet. I am so impressed that you completed your pre-reqs in one year. If you can do that, you should definitely be able to handle nursing school. It took me a little over a year (plus summers) to finish my pre-reqs. My children are a bit younger than yours, so it was difficult to take a full load (something that I only did 1 semester). My kids are 5, 7 and 9. It is much more difficult to go back to school with kids (as I'm sure you know), but I am a WAY better student now than before kids! I will pm you with more info. once I am able. If you are comfortable giving out your school email in a pm, that would be great too. I would give you my home email, but don't want to do it on an open forum. It would be great to connect at the orientation so I will know at least one person!
  12. Congrats to you!!! Yes, we will be classmates come spring. I have just registered for my BLS class, which I am planning to take mid-December. I graduated from Sac State in 2001 (unrelated field) and returned to Sac State for nursing this past semester. Since I completed all of my pre-reqs at local JCs, I don't know anyone that is starting in the program in the spring. I am very excited and nervous. I know that this program will be challenging, so I am trying to prepare myself (and my children) for the changes that will soon be taking place. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
  13. Anyone attending the Sac State nursing program in spring 2010? It would great to meet some people going into the program. Thanks!
