  1. A member of my clinical is trying to decide whether or not to quit, she is 2nd semester (near the end of 2nd) and has been written up for throwing insulin stylet and saline flush syringe in to the garbage rather than sharps, in addition the instructo...
  2. To drop out or not to drop out?

Saline flush goes into the sharps **because the teacher says so** not because of logic, and as for the insulin stylet it is a new type that once used you can not extend the needle again, you could safely throw it in the garbage (many RN's do) however...
  3. To drop out or not to drop out?

Wow so you had a lab on not throwing syringes in the garbage? I have to wonder how that went. She emailed me a while ago and dropped, thanks for the input everyone, I was hoping to get something to encourage her to stay.
  4. To drop out or not to drop out?

The stylet is the thingy you poke the patients finger with, that's what our CI's call it anyways.
  5. To drop out or not to drop out?

There is no "skills lab" for these skills, there is no paper writing for errors like this either.
  6. It's a 1 page paper and you're almost done...what does making waves about it get you? I can write a 1 page paper in 15 minutes...get over it.
  7. Womens interest in male nurses

I wouldn't expect much more from a woman that was responding to being "chatted up", you aren't hanging out in a bar when you're doing this are you?
  8. whats with sutter and Sacramento city?

It isn't any harder than the sac city main campus program, it's just faster, the work load is the same, in fact, it is an identical program, in my experience a 4.0 doesn't seem to matter so much with this program, however there was talk of going back...
  9. whats with sutter and Sacramento city?

I'm in the sutter "extended" program which is a joint effort of sacramento city college and sutter to get more nurses out there and working. Let me tell you how it is in the extended program, we start with 55 students 1st semester and 2nd semester th...
  10. That day never really comes in my experience, the more you make the more you spend.
  11. What is PES

Thanks everyone, PES isn't listed in the index of my book but it is under the careplan section.
  12. What is PES

and why can't I seem to find it in any of my books?
  13. Blood Types

Yes I should be able to find this myself, but I think I have confused my self. Is type O blood the same as type O- In other words all blood types missing the Rh factor are - ? So that when you say type O you are also saying it is type O- because type...
  14. Blood Types

This is exactly the type of information that confused me because I did research this, seems so easy to just say we are all either Rh- or Rh+ and one of the 4 major bloodtypes. Not a single one of the pages I visited nor my text book say that...in fac...
  15. Blood Types

So then I would ask why do we ever refer to anyone as having type A, B, AB and O as they should be refered to as having type A-, B-, AB- and O- and of course their + counterparts. So there is not a type A, only type A- and A+ you either have the Rh f...
  16. Nursing is taking over my life!!!!

Sad the first thing out of your mouth is "pop a pill".
  17. I finally got in!!!

If you don't understand, and can not write or read english, why would anyone want you nursing them?
  18. Graphic Design vs. Nursing?

Even if it doesn't work out you're young enough to change to something else. Trust me there is nothign worse than being 50 years old and wondering "should I have gone for it?"
  19. I'm sure I could find this on google but I want some feedback, as I understand a nurse practitioner is a masters in nursing therefore "above" an RN. Is this the case? does being a NP open more doors?
  20. 12-Step Coercion

But take a look at the success ratios of AA and *any* other program...AA wins. But saying you're religious or belive in God does nothing to stop you from drinking..only action not words.
  21. nurse practitioner or RN?

I know that you can have a PHD and still be flipping burgers and some guy that can barely speak can get to the top (look at Bush) but I always remind myself in this life of increasing competition of a little saying I heard from a Klingon "the higher...
  22. 12-Step Coercion

most are not like that but the catch is you really have to look for a group that fits you...personally I couldn't stand the singing and churchy stuff but I think a person addicted to going to church (or AA) is better than being addicted to drugs or a...
  23. nurse practitioner or RN?

in sacramento, i think this looks like a good career (i'm 42) for 2 reasons, i can make decent money and it offers me a chance to actually give back to life, as corny as that sounds it's become more important to me the older i get.
  24. 12-Step Coercion

A.A. works, religions do not (think about it)
  25. Foreign Objects in Body Cavities

How old was his penis? (just a joke)
