  1. Hi, I think the Lahey Clinic has one in Critical Care. I'm not 100% sure but I'd double check :).
  2. Hello, Ok, thank you for your response! If anyone know about medical intermediate units at BWH that would be awesome. :)
  3. Hello, I am a nursing student and I work as a PCA on another floor at BWH. I am going to start working on a Medical Intermediate unit. The nurse patient ratio was only three...i was surprised because I thought a Medical Intermediate unit was the same as a Med-Surg floor. Does anyone work on a Medical Intermediate unit at BWH? Or, on a similar floor on another unit? If so, how does a Medical Intermediate floor differ from a Med-Surg floor at BWH? The NM was telling me that people are on bipap and can be on drips on this floor. So, I'm confused as how new graduate nurses are hired onto these floors. Is it definitely a higher acuity unit than a Med-Surg? Any information anyone could provide would be awesome! Thanks so much :)
  4. Hi again, That made my day! I'm super excited. Now I will also review dressing changes as well. And, will research starting IVs! I hope you have a good week!
  5. Hello vamedic4, Thank you so much for your response! I am so so excited. And I am eager to learn! I will definitely take advantage of any and all opportunities. Wow, Nurse Externs get to start IVs? So, just to be clear, the Surgical Trauma ICU is a subsection of the PICU? That's how I interpreted it. I should probably start reviewing my Pedi Neuro notes from lecture! Thanks again, Sarah
  6. Hi, I got accepted into the Summer Nurse Extern program at CMC Dallas in the PICU/Surgical Trauma department. Did anyone get the opportunity to see what the externs got to do? Is this a good department to learn in? How does the PICU/ Surgical Trauma department differ from the PICU? Hopefully that's not a silly question. Any information you could provide me with would be great! Thank you!
  7. Hi, Did you end up applying to the program? I definitely think that it will be great experience (but I'm biased haha). I ask because applied and got in! Best of luck!
  8. Hey, thanks. Good luck to you as well!!!!!
  9. mursethorn, Thank you for your response. That was very helpful and really boosted my confidence! I have just completed my application and am waiting for my clinical faculty reference to arrive in the mail. I am very excited and think that it's going to be a long wait to hear in February...even though it is so soon hehe. Did the application last year require 2 references? Because, this year's application only has one form. Thanks again and take care! :)
  10. Hi mydeluna, Oh, okay. I'm surprised that I need to have two references from faculty members. This is because in the application there is only one sheet for the reference page and it is not stated any where else in the application or website. I'm glad that I asked you! Thank you very much!
  11. mydeluna, Okay, thank you! I have a 3.4 GPA. And, I work as a PCA for a woman at home. I'm a student nurse mentor for a nursing student program at school. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in? Also, do I only need one reference from a clinical faculty member? What did you think of the program? Sorry to ask so many questions...I'm super curious. And, I've been working on my application for an eternity. Thanks! :)
  12. Hello, I am applying to the Summer III program. Does anyone have any advice? Any is appreciated. I am so excited to send in my application soon!
  13. OrthoRN09, Thank you for your response. Of course, I plan on applying! I am just trying to get an idea of what characteristics accepted students have. I'm just curious. I'm not stressed about it...I would say that I'm more excited about it. And, I wish I had known that there were so many awesome opportunities for nursing students earlier! :) Good luck everyone.
  14. Thanks Whip65, It's good to hear that! Were you a Summer III? Do you have an idea about what GPAs they accept. Thanks!
  15. hi jenrosie, i read in your post that you work at the mayo clinic. i am applying to the summer iii nursing program at the mayo clinic. i was wondering if you could tell me if i have a chance at being accepted into the program. i really want to go and i am not sure how i "weigh in" compared to the other applicants. i am from boston, ma. are you more likely to get accepted if you are from mn? or, is there no preference for in or out of state students? i also have a 3.4 gpa. and, i work as a pca for a woman at home. do you think i have a good chance of getting in? also, do we only need one reference from clinical faculty? any advice that you could provide would be so helpful. this really sounds like an amazing opportunity and i am so worried that my gpa is too low and that i don't have enough extracurricular activities. thanks!!!

  18. jmkeller81, I really think you should apply! Your GPA is good and your extracurricular activities are amazing! I think that you should definitely apply! An outstanding recommendation would be great. I think that because of your experience you will stand out! Do you know what characteristics they are looking for...I ask because you stated that a family member works at the Mayo Clinic. I am worried about being accepted because my GPA is not high enough to make up for my lack of extracurricular activities. I really have only worked as a PCA for a woman at home (paid by the Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts), worked as a camp counselor for two summer, part of a nursing club at school, and worked in retail. The application is very simple. And, I know... 100 out of 700 is SO dismal! Let's hope that we are two of them :)
  19. Hello, Are you responding to jmkeller81, or me...or both? If you are responding to me, is it because you think my GPA is good enough? Or why else? There must be other internships available to you? Have you tried student trained aid programs? Thank you for your response! :)
