I am foreign CNM in California. I have already taken and passed NCLEX -RN exam and I am waiting to get my RN License. the Board told me that could take up to 3 months. My aim is to validate my Midwifery degree too , but as I know that is a long process , I am thinking on working as a Doula in the meantime . My question is : I have 12 years of Midwifery experience, Do I need to do a DOULA training to work as a DOULA? thanks in advance

Hi. I am following KAPLAN program. I have read the RN course book but pharma and I have done 4 of 7 QTrainers and some QBanks (58.45% average). I have taken the Saunders assessment test yesterday with a score of 75% but I do not know if this test is reliable. I am going to start Pharmacology. I am watching the online content review now. So my plan till September the 24th is: Am: Reviewing the content from the beginning. PM: Study Pharmacology. 100 Qbanks a day I will try to finish the review this month or early September.Thus in September I can focus the study on weak areas. What about you?

Thanks Vianey83. After reading your post, I fell much better. I'm from Spain and I started studying 2 months ago. My score is QT1: 60. 69 second time QT2: 52. Second time 64 QT3: 45. Second time: 74 QT4 today: 59.3 I was worried about whether they were very bad results. I still have 1 month and a half and I am studying every day, all I can. I know I have to keep studying, because I recognize that I have some weak areas. I am studying with KAPLAN and I have studied most of the book but Risk Potential and pharma. Reading your post has helped me a lot, as now I know that somebody has passed with similar score. Thanks you very much.

Thanks guys. I guess I misunderstood the question, as by the posture of the woman, I tought that she had the airway occluded. And about the diarrhea, thanks for the info. I guess the key of the question is the hydratation status. What if the questions says the kid is dehydratated?, Do you start IV fluids or oral fluids? Thanks

Hi. I have some doubts about some questions I have come across with. 1- Upper airway obstruction. On my book says I had to follow the 5+5 rule, which is 5 back blows + 5 abdominal thrust. One the question says that a woman gasps for breath and grasp her throat. What do you have to do first?. I answer "lean the woman foward and administer back blows", but it says that the correct answer is ask the woman if she can speak. What if she can not?, Do we do something different? 2.- Acute Diarrhea ralated to Gastroenteritis in 3 years old. No evidence of dehydratation. What do you should recommend?. On my book says that the CLEAR liquid diet is for acute vomiting and diarrhea. But the correct answer is start the usual diet right away, offering food as tolerate. The rational for that is "once the rehydratacion has occured a normal diet is without addverse effect, decrease the duration and severity of the illness and improve weight gain. And it says that clear liquid by mouth is not recommended for managing diarrhea, bacause they are high in sugar and low in electrolytes. Thanks
