Recommendations for new job
I've been a nurse pretty much 10 years now. My first job was on a PCU night shift and became charge there. Then moved and got a charge position I was at for about 7 years. I've been doing travel nursing this past year. I'm planning on stopping with traveling due to family at the end of this year. My whole career I've been bedside so I'm leaning towards trying to do something away from straight bedside nursing. I've mainly done cardiac pcu/cardiac surgery pcu for my 10 years as nursing so my first thoughts is working in the cath lab or EP lab. I'm open to really anything and am curious what people here are doing/have done that they really enjoyed. Hope all of this makes sense and have a good weekend everyone!

Are 2nd semester nursing students considered CNA's?
After my first year of nursing school I got a job as an ER Tech due to the fact that I finished my first semester.

how to answere qestion in a interview when you have a probation period on your license
im still wondering why you allow med errors and other patient issues slide under the bus for the young "decade girl" when you were charge nurse.

Getting cut short on orientation
I agree with the above post if your co-workers are nice and able to help out and all then it will make the transition much easier.

New Grad in the ER ... ADVICE PLEASE!
As NurseOnAMotorcycle said the skills will come with time and getting a job in ER as a new nurse is great and will look great on your resume. I worked in the ER as a tech in my final year of nursing and would've stayed if I didn't move for 3 years but I did over 1000 IVs in a short amount of time so that skill plus all your others will come to you very quickly. Time management will be huge as I feel that my short time spent in the ER as a tech has made me into the nurse I am today, probably why I was able to move up to be a charge nurse quite quickly. I will say good luck to you and just hit the ground running and enjoy each day and take it all as a big learning experiance :)

How do you feel when?..
I will say for myself I always told the nurses on the floor that if they had anything going on to let me know so I could observe. The best I can offer you is that if you hear about something going on or about to go on and you go into the patients room, if its male or female, to do your best to look pleasant and look like you are willing to learn. During my time in nursing school it was very rare for a female patient to refuse any type of care or observation from me. As a nurse I have had only like 2 patients in my 3 years tell me that they would prefer a female to be there (while they are needing cleaned) but had no issues with me caring for them. I always stress though to just have a smile on your face and be pleasant because that can relax the patient a lot and make them more trusting of you, and as always it never hurts to ask if it is ok for you to be apart of the teaching moment.

Help, wanting to leave job within 6 month of hire
The fact you already have a job offer is fine. Leave the place you hate and work at the new place, specially if it is somewhere you will want to be for a long time then it really doesn't matter.

New Nurse Mistakes
Giving 1mg of Morphine when it was supposed to be 0.5mg. Nothing big came of it and patient was fine :)

Best Way to Resign -
I agree with above, DO NOT RESIGN, just talk with your manager and see if you can change from FT to Per Diem

Tattoos on Nurses- NZ
I have to wear a sleeve on my right arm due to a tattoo on my right forearm. I will probably soon need two sleeves as I plan on getting my left arm tattooed. At my last job I worked nights and didn't wear anything and never had any issues/complaints but now that I am on dayshit and in a higher position I feel that its more professional to not be showing the tattoos (though I get asked more about my sleeve than I ever did about my tattoo.)

New grad starting night shift
I work 7p-7a and I go home after work, sleep until 1p or 2p usually, wake up and do stuff around house and all until work again. On days I have off I usually go to bed around 2am just to get some more sleep in but not completely shift back to a day schedule. Good luck!
