  1. I ended up dropping Chem 121 b/c I missed the first class. I'm going to sign up for it next semester. I had registered for it all day on Sunday. I think next time I won't do that to myself.
  2. And I've got the flu. I am registered for English and Chem. I took Math and Psych last semester. I called the science department and they said the section I'm taking of Chemistry is taught by Prof. Isaacsman (sp?). Does anyone know anything about him/her? Rate my professors came up empty. Good luck with your courses!
  3. unfortunately i'll be at work when this meeting is going on (i'm in the weekend and evening program). please let us all know what transpires.
  4. UGH! I'm in the pre-clinical nursing phase at BMCC and I am cringing right now. I do know that there is a GPA cut off for getting into the program and you have to keep applying. I just don't let it get to me and just keep trotting along in hopes that I do well and don't have any problems. I know that it's a serious issue, though. Where is this article you speak of? I'd like to read it.
  5. i called there about a week ago and they told me that advisement/registration materials should be mailed out soon. they also said that if i don't receive anything by august 20th to physically come into the school for advisement. i need to be advised before i register b/c i'm technically a transfer student. i think the online registration through panther is for students that have already attended, not for us newbies.
  6. i am also set to take classes too and i haven't even gotten anything about advisement, let alone registration! have you?
  7. does anyone know what ward clerks make? i live in nyc, but i'm curious to know what they make around the country.
  8. Does anyone know of any city hospitals with CNA training programs?
  9. same here, i did not mean any harm by using names. when i visited the admissions office, i was given a packet of info regarding the nursing program. the first page reads, and i quote, "The college does not maintain a wait list for admission. Some students have found it necessary to apply two or three times before being admitted to the clinical sequence. However, other eligible students, but with a lower pre-clinical index have not been admitted in successive years." so there ya go...straight from the bmcc information i received. no wait list! :)
  10. i was over there months ago and spoke to mr. ****** . he said they don't keep a waiting list. you have to keep reapplying to the clinical phase until you are accepted. don't know which is worse... edited out instructror's name
  11. thanks. you're right. i have nothing to lose...
  12. I'm in need of some advice -- I'm about to enroll in school part-time and have received the dreaded FAFSA to fill out. I'm a second degree student - I have a Bachelors and I'm going back part-time for an Associates. I'm 25, about to turn 26 and not married, have no kids. I was not planning on taking out loans (I'll be working while attending) and I'm very skeptical that I'll receive any free money - as I've used it up in my first degree. Should I bother filling out the FAFSA at all? Also, I'm no longer a dependent so if I do fill it out do I have to include my parent's income information? Any and all advice would be helpful.
  13. Hmm... Now you've got me thinking. I sent in all my transcripts from previous schools, but I was told from an admissions counselor that credits will not be transferred until you have an advisors session and register..which is where I figured I would be able to make a decision on which classes I want to transfer in and which I'll retake. And my situation is very difficult b/c I have a BFA in Film/Video from an art school so my Psych class, for example, was called "psychology and art"..something that I'm sure BMCC will have problems with me trying to transfer in. I know I'm babbling, sorry. Anyone who's been through this care to comment??
  14. i'm sorry for my last post, i wasn't condoning wearing and returning clothes. it was sort of a joke with a hint of truth. anyhow, please forgive me and let me make it better. the nicest suit i've ever bought was from burlington coat factory. the place really is a gem and i know there are locations throughout the US, not just in NY. it's sort of like a tj maxx or marshalls, as far as it's designer clothing marked way down, but it's very organized and there are more than just one size in a style. i'm an awkward petite size and i can never find clothes that i don't have to have hemmed (read: 20 extra bucks). for 40 bucks i got a blue blazer/skirt suit and it fits perfect. there are a lot of options for different sizes, not just petite. it's my one stop shop for all business attire needs. check it out. ....oh, and i promise you won't want to return it after you wear it... :rotfl:
  15. hey, i just got my acceptance letter today from bmcc. i applied for the evening/weekend program. i'm very excited. i've read through the posts here and the information is going to be invaluable as i begin my journey. i have met with mr. ****** to inquire about the program and i can tell you that i hadn't even applied to the program yet and felt defeated leaving his office. i am a transfer student and all the information he threw at me regarding the minimum gpa for the clinical phase left me dizzy. i have some bs in classes i'll be transferring in - you all have me re-thinking whether i should even bother to transfer less than perfect grades. perhaps i should try to re-take classes for a higher pre-clinical gpa? how hard is it to untransfer classes? i'm also wondering, sorry if i'm re-asking a previously asked question, but how many of the people you started with carried on to the clinical phase? are their really a lot of people turned away b/c of the gpa requirement? i haven't even started classes and i'm worrying...lol edited out instructor's name
