  1. I just got placed today and start next week at SCC. my timestamp was 8/13/10 08:00:32
  2. I really wish there were no drug seekers. Their abuse of the system makes it hard on everyone, the nurse, the doctor and especially patients that legitimately need pain relief. Plus, with their history of drug seeking behavior, it makes it hard to assess a real problem vs. a fake one. I think you did the right thing, better to be safe than sorry. If he was having a heart attack and you didn't call 911, it could have been a much worse outcome.
  3. I feel the same way! I would be interested in the new program if I had all the pre-reqs for NAU, but I don't. I can't afford any other schools, even if their wait is shorter. To me, it's just not an option.
  4. It's not impossible, but my concern is you are taking the 8 week versions. There's too much stuff to possibly do in 8 weeks to get a good grade.
  5. Start stalking your local hospitals website job search. You'd be surprised some jobs only stay up for hours before they are gone. Apply to everything you can! Good luck!
  6. Exactly! My friends and I joke, that your brain cells go out with the placenta! HAHA
  7. Hi Anica, Did you get your nike plus yet? How do you like it? Is it working well for you? I am thinking of getting another one even though the last one I bought was defective. Amber
  8. I hope yours works. Maybe I just got a defective one? oh well.
  9. Well, if none of the CNA's smoke, then they should hire a CNA that smokes, that should take care of that.
  10. I'm waiting to get into nursing school, but trying to get a job as transporter in the mean time. I bought the nike plus to take on walks, I take my son to school it's about 3 miles round trip. It stopped working after 1 mile, I could never get it to work again, so I returned it and the shoes. Good luck!
  11. Getting into block 3 depends on someone failing block 2 and losing their place. So if no one fails, there are no openings. If 10 people fail there would be 10 openings, so there is no telling how long the wait is because it all depends on someone failing.
  12. Mesa Community college is going to have a summer CNA class, they will be posting the schedule sometime in March.
  13. You can't win the lottery unless you play.... You get the point. Keep applying! I'm sure they just have a ton of applicants.
  14. Oh and their is no teaching at RIO... it's sink or swim, no help from teachers or "teaching" is provided. Only the class materials that cover 10 times more information than any person could absorb in the time frame, it's a crapshoot really.
  15. Hi Blue... Not sure if you realized this thread was about 4 years old. I've taken BIO156 and BIO201 at rio... not fun. The midterms and finals usually have one or two essay questions that you have turned in an essay as an assignment and the other 2 or 3 are from the list of 40+ or whatever it is. Also use the quizzes on the cd that goes with the book or the books online website to access the chapter quizzes, I would take the quizzes over and over until i got a decent score. That helped on the 80 multiple choice questions. Hope that helps! Amber
  16. I'm pretty sure it will never be available again. The IT department has restricted the access to certain servers within the colleges.
  17. they are talking about the "whiteboard" Its only meant for internal staff to use, but somehow got linked to the outside world. I think they have fixed it now so only the MCCD staff can access it from their servers.
  18. The best way to find that out would be to go to the website of the crna school you are interested in attending and look up the admission requirements.
  19. Every 2 months all applications at all of the MCCD colleges are given a date and random time stamp. This happens every feb/mar, apr/may, jun/jul, aug/sept, oct/nov, dec/jan, in the following month of the period. For instance, I got a date timestamp of 8/13/10 08:00:32, but I applied the middle of July. On August 13th they took all applications from june and july and gave them a timestamp. Everyone that applied in june and july has an August 13th date, but the timestamp part is random. If you just applied in september, then you should be getting your timestamp soon. If you applied in october, they won't do your timestamp until december. Some colleges enter your application right away when you apply so you can access the website, but you won't see a timestamp. Some of the colleges wait until the 2 month period is up and then enter them all into the system at once, which will delay your access to the website. The advisor at MCC told me if I hadn't received an email by the end of August(the month after the application period) to contact her. Hope that helps, Amber
  20. If you didn't already... when you sign up as a student on amazon you get amazon prime free for a year, gives you free two day shipping!
  21. If you look up books for NUR251 I think there is one or two additional books that were not included in NUR151, but that could just be because they didn't require those books at the time that students now in block 3 started in block 1. I do believe they changed a lot of the required texts from the last semesters though, because I had bought previous editions on ebay for a few dollars each of the required texts from last year, and back then they were using potter & perry nursing fundamentals. (i bought them to study while waiting to get into ns, but mostly they just sit on the shelf *LOL*) I got almost all the required books at that time for about $60 from ebay buying the previous edition. I have read from other posters that you might be able to buy previous editions of some books, check with your instructor.
  22. Congratulations!!! You must be super excited! MCC has such a nice building! Let us know how it goes, for those of us still on the wait list. Amber
  23. they did have it down for awhile, but the link from here Maricopa Community Colleges District Nursing Program is still working
  24. The trick I use to get an idea of book expenses: Go to the college bookstore website and input the class for nursing using the current semester, NUR151, for Mesa CC it shows all the books needed for block 1, which add up to around 900-950 with optional books.
  25. As of 10/5 8:19am There are currently [2940] applicants in the database awaiting placement. [0] applicants have been placed and [323] others have not re-affirmed their interest in MaricopaNursing and will not be considered for placement until they reaffirm. Good luck to all that get placed today!!!!
