  1. meganthe, I pm'd my details to you for fb page. I won't actually enter the program until Fall semester (LPN- so I exempt Summer session) but I would love to hear how things are going for you during summer semester!
  2. PedOnc2020, I got a pair of nursemate dove shoes. Here is the link from where I got mine. They are slip on and very light weight which is really good when you are in them for long periods of time! Uniforms - Nursing Scrubs, Nursing Uniforms & Medical Scrubs - allheart
  3. Not sure about books but I went to the bookstore last week and bought uniforms and nursing kit and it was about $400.00. I didn't need to get the stethoscope and BP cuff they had since I already have a really great set of those already. That was 2 sets of uniforms, a lab coat, and a scrub jacket plus the nursing kit. All was required except for the scrub jacket.
  4. Congratulations meganthe! Can't wait to meet all of my Athens classmates! Is there anyone else besides me who is doing the LPN to BSN route? I'd really like to connect with another LPN starting the program since our start date is different than the regular class!
  5. Congratulations kiwi1234!
  6. Congratulations PedOnc2020!
  7. PedOnc2020, any news for you yet?
  8. Congratulations ALH825! I will be attending the Athens campus too but won't actually start classes until the Fall semester since I am in the LPN to BSN program and don't have to do Summer semester. Looking forward to meeting you and all the others who will be going to the Athens Campus!
  9. I got my acceptance letter for Athens campus in the mail today too! I am so excited! Can't wait to get started!
  10. Just wanted to update that my interview went really well. Felt like I was really connecting with both of the interviewers so very encouraged by our conversation. I asked about when decisions will be made regarding who is accepted. They said that it would be after Spring break before any letters would be sent out. They also said that we will receive word even if we did not get accepted so at least there will be no doubt of whether we were accepted. I think she said maybe the week after Spring break specifically, but definitely won't get word until after we come back from Spring break. Good luck to everyone and let's all post updates when we can!
  11. Congratulations ALH825! Please give us an update after your interview on Wednesday. Good Luck to all!
  12. I'm sure you will do great! Plz do update once you have your interview and let me know how it went. I spoke to two other ladies on campus today who applied for this year, they both have interviews scheduled for Wednesday as well. I'm sure I will be crazy nervous when it gets closer to time for my interview but for now I am just so excited and happy to at least have a shot! Best of luck and hope to hear from you soon!
  13. Congratulations to you PedOnc2020! That is awesome. Are you currently taking classes at Piedmont? Really hoping to make contact with some other students on campus who are seeking admission to the program. I am on the Athens Campus Monday thru Friday. Let me know if you are there and maybe we could meet up some time and compare notes! Congrats again! :)
  14. Got the call today about my interview for Piedmont's BSN program! I am interviewing on the Athens Campus next Thursday! PedOnc2020, have you gotten a call yet? Anyone else scheduled for an interview at Piedmont College yet? I am so excited! Looking forward to hearing from more Piedmont 2016 BSN program hopefuls!
  15. Nope, not yet but I know they r reviewing the applications bc Cat, the administrative assistant for the Nursing program e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago to make sure they had all of my documents. I am a little different in that I will be in the LPN-BSN program so won't actually start until Fall semester instead of Summer Semester. My adviser has already told me that as an LPN with my grades and scores I was pretty much assured of getting in but of course I won't be happy until I know for sure!
  16. I applied! Currently attending Piedmont finishing up my last remaining prereq's.
  17. I just signed! Would have done so before now but just saw it today here on AN.
  18. I'd like to add my thanks for all that you guys have done and continue to do to keep this site going. I am so thankful for your commitment and sacrifice in this difficult time.
  19. Hello all! I am enrolled at Piedmont College (in GA) in the LPN to BSN program and begin next semester. I will start off finishing up a few prerequisites that I started in an LPN to ADN program at another school. I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on the program at Piedmont College or just general feedback on any other LPN to BSN program you may have attended? I especially would like to hear from anyone who is or has attended the Nursing program at Piedmont College Athens Campus, even if not the LPN to BSN program. I would love to know just a little about your experiences in a program like this. Basically anything at all, good or bad that you feel would be helpful to someone just starting an LPN to BSN program would be so appreciated. I am a non traditional student...I will be 48 when I finish so to say the least, I am nervous and excited at the same time! Thanks in advance to anyone who cares to share!

I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on the program at Piedmont College or just general feedback on any other LPN to BSN program you may have attended? I am posting in the Georgia forum as well to see if I can get feedback specific to Piedmont. I would love to know just a little about your experiences as an LPN in a program like this. 21. Hi merei! I am from GA as well and am currently enrolled in an LPN to BSN program. I think that there are still jobs available in GA for and RN with an ADN, but I think that may not always be the case. It seems that as many have previously stated here on AN, the standard for entry level RN is shifting to at least a BSN. For me at this point, I think it is just smarter to go ahead and get the BSN so that I stay ahead of the changes. I don't think getting the ADN is necessarily a bad idea, but if you have plans to go for a BSN later any way, I would recommend just going ahead and getting it to start with. I try to look at the future and the most efficient way of obtaining my future goals and for me, that is definitely getting my BSN! Best of luck to you in whatever path you choose!
  22. Most tech schools require that prereq's be less than 5 years old, especially for classes like A&P 1&2 and Micro. I am taking all again for the 3rd time since so much time has elapsed since I started this journey. Personally I think it is a good thing since even after a few years I have forgotten a lot and am really benefiting from the refresher. Also, since it is so competitive to get into most LPN-RN programs, it's a really good opportunity to get a better grade and increase my odds of getting acceptance into the program. Good luck to your Aunt in whatever path she takes!
  23. The only other thing I can think of is if you don't let the slide dry completely after you do your smear and before it passes through the flame it can aerosolyze (sp.) the bacteria and you could lose your sample that way. I'm not sure what else could have gone wrong but those are just things I thought of with my very limited experience. Don't give up CordaeP, I'm sure you can do it!
  24. Did you heat fix your specimen before you applied the stain to the slide? If you don't pass the slide through the bunsen burner 3 times and allow to cool before applying the stain, the stain will just wash the sample off.
  25. Am I the only one not really enjoying the lab portion of micro? I just feel as though I am fumbling around in there making mistakes all the time. The results of my first lab were actually really good, I got all my points, and my gram stain that we did yesterday turned out well. I just never feel completely comfortable with what I'm doing. I admit I am a bit of a perfectionist, but I just really hope I can gain some confidence in lab soon!
