  3. HI: Does anyone know anything about maternity leave here in nyc? I work at a HHC Hospital & I am curious to know what the maternity leave is before I speak to my immediate supervisor. I have been reading that there is a law that mothers are entitled to 12 weeks off, without pay, and then you get your old job back with equal pay, etc. However, I have been reading things about 6 weeks. Does anyone know? thanks.

  11. Hi: I was wondering if anyone had information on summer jobs for nursing students. I am finishing up my first semester of nursing school, and need to find a summer job where I can improve my clinical nursing skills. Does anyone know where I can work at/or possibly intern at? And, what kinds of positions would I be looking for? It seems as if the positions I am looking for require a certification. Please help! Thnx.!

  16. Thanks for the info. I am starting to freak about the GRE, as I really don't know that much info about it, except that I have 2 months for the nursing application due, and they require the GRE. If I have heard right, don't people take months and months to prepare for this? Nonetheless, thanks for the info. Did you think the Columbia program was worth the money?
  17. I am curious whether you had to take the GRE for admissions to columbia and what your gpa was to get in. I am looking to get out of my current nursing program and want to find an accelerated nursing program, and then on to my masters. Did you also have to take the GRE for Columbia? If so, how long did you take to prepare for it? Do you have any advice?

  22. i am enrolled in bmcc in 1st semester nursing. I was wondering if anyone else out there had any strong opinions about it. I am having reservations about the program and school & am seriously thinking of transferring to another program. Overally, I am dissapointed and want to know if that is the normal feeling at other r.n. programs. Also, if anyone could suggest an accelerated BSN program/ or regular bsn track school within manhattan/or close to the city/ even in jersey. I would appreciate it. I am fairly new to nyc and am still learning the ins and outs of this place.
  23. i was wondering if anyone knew offhand the distance from manhattan to stonybrook? I live in manhattan and am thinking of transferring out there. it sounds like an excellent program. pls let me know about distance..as I am confined to manhattan.
  24. in regards to stonybrook university, i just checked out their website and they are closed for this year's basic 2 year program and the accelerated program. if you find out something different, pls let me know.
  25. I have not received anything for registration yet either & it is July 30. When is the first day of school? And, can we register online right now if we want to through Panther? Or, do we have to register the traditional way by standing in line all day & running to get enrolled in class? Please advise or send me an email to [email protected]. I am very confused about all of this & would like as much info as possible. As for talking to Jose Sierra, he does not talk to students that still have to take pre-clinicals. Now, the students have to go to the general advising room next door to nursing. I was informed by the main nursing secretary that Jose Sierra can not help me. As for the general advisors, they do not really help. If anyone has any helpful info, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
