  1. I'm only passion was more prevalent all around, perhaps health outcomes would improve across the board.
  2. Dsap, call (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) over at student academic services! She will tell you exactly what the reviewers said about your application. She told me that I had an extremely competitive application, and the only thing preventing me wad my grades were not as good as they needed to be. She said that one reviewer gave me 10/10 on all essays, which apparently nobody else who applied got. This year they did extra advertising for the dnp, and had over 110 people apply to the fnp, as opposed to the usual 80ish. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) gave me very useful info, and I feel confident about getting in next time after increasing my GPA, if I choose to apply again.
  3. I'm meeting with Carolyn on weds to see where I went wrong.
  4. I live in Wallingford, right next to the university district, so it's really close to the UW. I also have a friend who got into the DNP for psych immediately after her BSN, but that program didn't have as many applicants by far as the fnp. I think 3 or 4 people from my class applied to the fnp, one for the anp, and nobody else applied.
  5. That's ok , I was kinda expecting it. I am a current senior BSN student at the UW, so I had high hopes that I would get into the program at the get go. I have lots of global health experience and a public health degree, just not any experience working on the RN side of things. Hopefully it was for the best :) trying to keep my chin up.
  6. I applied for the fnp and got a denial letter yesterday... Better luck next yeah I guess.
  7. When I went to the last info session, Carolyn said that we would be getting both email and snail mail confirmation, but perhaps that has now changed. Typical :)
  8. Anyone who gets a letter, let us know if you could. :)
  9. The MN is only two programs, that's why. Community health nursing and nurse informatics.
  10. That's not too bad, since it is the dnp apps for all of the tracks.
  11. That may be correct, although the curriculum starts with all the DNP-based classes, which are all non-track specific class where all DNPs take classes together, regardless of track. Second and third year are track-specific years.
  12. Is being a nurse practitioner, and specializing in wound care a thing? I would love to hear peoples perspective, opinions, and experiences (especially from those possible wound care NPs).
  13. The University of Washington is one of those "early adopters", and all their NP/CNS/CNM degrees are all DNPs now. The only programs that we have that are masters level now are an MSN in community health nursing and nursing informatics. I am still dubious about this move, but it is definitely trying to align with the recommendations from the 2010 IOM report, creating degree parity, leadership skills, and practice inquiry. Makes sense, but its a bold move.
  14. Yikes! That is nerve-wracking!
  15. I applied to the FNP track for this Fall.
  16. I am from Seattle and applied to the FNP for Fall 2015.
  17. Not the school of nursing itself, but the University of Washington has its own requirements, even if you're a transfer student.
  18. I am right there with you. I'm finishing up my BSN at u of wash right now and am planning on applying for their fnp-dnp program this next year. I also want to get ah mph, but I already do have a bs in public health. Also looking to work with the homeless, which I've been involved with foe many years. You could always go back for an mph, but I know johns Hopkins has an fnp/mph degree. My good friend just moved from Seattle to Baltimore to attend.
  19. You never know! Just hope that more people drop by then. I almost dropped to go to johns Hopkins instead, but decided to stick in Washington.
  20. I wasn't waitlisted last year, but I know around four people dropped the program within the first week, so thre is always a chance! Hope you make it in. Its hard. As hell. Put pretty fun.
  21. Im a first year BSN student and there are a couple people that commute from JBLM and Olympia every day. Their life is much more hellish because of it.
  22. I am a Seattle native and was accepted to the BSN fall 2013 cohort at the UW. I have the opportunity to live at two amazing locations. One in Capitol hill off Broadway and Republican, and another place off 45th in Wallingford. I want to be able to live in a location that would provide a nice central location because I don't want to have to buy a car if I can help it. The Wallingford location is closer to the UWMC and the School of Nursing, but the Capitol hill location is closet to many potential clinical sites on first hill. to those who have gone through UWs program at the Seattle campus, what would be the better place to live, as far as convenience is concerned? Thanks!
  23. I just got accepted to UW, so I will be stepping down from my UP spot.
  24. Im pretty stoked to start the madness, just not looking forward to all the forms and whatnot. Im nor going to be back from my rural health internship until August, so I hope I won't have to miss anything during the summertime.
