  1. I would talk to a doctor about your current condition. Try to get a letter from the doctor stating their professional diagnosis that you are ok and able to carry out the normal functions of your job. This is at least how they handle it for people trying to get into the military via medical waivers. Not sure how it works, but I imagine this some type of paper trail proof you could use to appeal to the board just in case. Good luck.
  2. Didn't read all the replies, but this is some solid advice imo. Can also go into the Army as O1 http://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/browse-career-and-job-categories/medical-and-emergency/nurse-corps-officer.html . You don't have to go to basic training as a medical officer. They send you to basic Officer Training course instead.
  3. The RN's are having just as hard if not harder time getting jobs in California especially SF Bay area and LA. Going back to school and accruing more debt with a bad job market is risky at this time. Exception would be to go the city college ADN route because it will be less than $5k, however wait list is ridiculous. So I think the OP should probably try to get in the process of getting on the City College wait list (1 year - 2.5 year average) while looking for LVN work.
  4. Some great advice there. Thanks for the brightstar link. I didn't even know about them in San Diego.

Mudder do you mind sending me one as well?
  6. You should try looking outside orange county in the rural areas like Riverside, Corona, etc. Try to network with your old classmates. They should be able to look over your resume, give your referrals where they work, and other tips. Keep trying to volunteer. I'm not from OC so not really familiar, but I know Veterans Hospital doesn't require that school enrollment to volunteer. So try out VA in Long Beach. Also ask your old school for help. I was out of school 2+ years but was still able to get a bit of advice from my career center counselor on who was hiring new students etc.
  7. Great story thanks for sharing. Did you have certifications from your prior jobs?
  8. Hi I just applied to California Corrections Donovan Prison as an LVN about a week ago. For anyone that has applied before, How long did it take before they called you? Thanks!
  9. I hear Florida and Texas are the states to go for RN
  10. Hi Ibanda2000, can you tell me which agency this is in San Diego? I would like to put that on my do not apply list.
  11. Thanks for posting this. Vegas is on my wishlist. Do you have any suggestions what hospitals/companies to apply for?
  12. Considering moving out of state. The LA area has way too many LVN schools.
  13. Yes I'm in CA and I'm starting to lose all hope, however I don't want to jeopardize any chances of working for the government. I talked to the recruiter today and sounds like easy money but I decided to pass due to uncertainty and risk for future jobs.

My advice: make good friends with all the caregivers/cna's. They can make your life alot easier.
  15. I saw an ad at Craigslist to work for a Medical Marijuana clinic as an LVN. I have zero experience and jobs are nowhere to be found in my city. Will this affect me getting a government job like Corrections?
