  1. EMU has a test on january 22nd but you would need to contact the nursing dept EMU Nursing Office 734-487-2310 Or email: [email protected] quickly since testing tends to fill up fast. Not sure where else might have one sooner but you could try Madonna
  2. try not to worry! I started this fall with EMU and when I was taking my pre-reqs I felt the same way. I did not get all A's and I did get in. I will say that if there is a program that you would prefer over the others then make sure you do everything you can to get into THAT program. What I mean is for example EMU has a point system. You get points for taking your 8 pre reqs at EMU and they also offer point for working/volunteering in the 6 months prior to applying. Good Luck to you!!!!!

For my essentials of professional nursing practice class one of the three books we are using is Rubenfeld, M. G., Scheffer, B. (2010) Critical Thinking TACTICS for Nurses: Achieving the IOM Competencies ISBN: 9780763765842
  4. ok I will try to post some of it here. With the points system you get a bonus for each of the eight pre-reqs u take at EMU. They also give a bonus if you are currently employed/volunteer in healthcare. Some one else said that they give a bonus for being fluent i medical terminology of a language beside english but it was not in the paperwork so not sure if its true. I am not sure what else you want to know but ask away and I will try to answer
  5. Orientation was today!! It was great to see so many different people and all the various backgrounds. I was surprised by the number of people who really seemed unprepared. We have been given warning for pretty much every thing we have to do and some just didnt seem to be in a rush. I did luck out thou. We have a zillion things to print out and bring to class and because I took a summer class and its still summer semester I was able to print under my summer limit(500) and once class starts I will be able to print 500 more for free. :) Next week starts classes and I am sooooooo excited and terrified LOL
  6. I love the frappachino idea, I will have to try that. Class does not start until Sept. 9 but I have started my reading...and falling asleep
  7. The uniform store near me had stethascopes that you could try out. I ended up with a cardio because the cheap ones I could not hear a darn.
  8. springing, I start the program in the fall. Shoot me a private message and I will scan the info I have on the points system to you.
  9. I was pressed for time when I took a and p and one thing I did was recorded notes and then listened to them on my mp3 player in the car and when walking. It supplemented my studing and helped.
  10. I took chem winter semester and am currently taking nutrition and to be truthful the chem has not really made a difference. I will say that my nutrition class is way easier then the chem was :) HTH
  11. Thanks so much!!! I got my cardio and a few other supplies that were cheaper than anywhere else I had seen. The shipping wasn't bad and the coupon code took off almost the cost of shipping for me.
  12. Thanks!!! guess I should have poked about a bit more :typing
  13. Hi, I start with Eastern Michigan's nursing program this September and I am debating what stethoscope to buy. I have minimal hearing loss in both ears which does not really impact my normal hearing. I wonder if I should by a cardiology stethoscope just to be on the safe side. I would love some advice.
  14. Hi! congrats on making it into the 2nd degree program. I will be starting the traditional program in the fall at EMU.
