less people applying to nursing, please estimate point cut off, thanks so much!
There are so many people who start schooling to be a nurse, change their minds, some who graduate and grauade nursing only to discover why was I such a idiot? There are thoose who stay in the job - happy or not - they do it. The job is no differrent than any other statistic about college students being happy with their jobs and if they stick with it or not. Nursing is however - different because you deal directly with peoples lives that you don't know realistic a thing about, and while you do your best - the thing that counts is you knowing it; despite family members and the chain of command be it the doctors, head nurses and CNAs. You always do your best. There will be times you don't do your best because you get burned out - it happens, also it is about we are a team and we cannot do all things alone - we all cannot be perfect. We do all support eachother and we know the differrence between slaking -all that stuff. Everyone chooses a job - I like nursing and so if it isn't for you - good. I love my care mecanic :loveya:and banking sales reps. We all need eachother.

Hospice question from a new-ish LTC nurse
Possibly the pt can describe the specific feeling that she does not like when taking the roxanol - then take it from there. That is a very very big part of hospice - micro management of detailed description so the best choices can be made.

Are all LTC jobs like this?
Being a CNA is not about all these problems you are talking about. The job does not pay very well, I doubt it will get any better therefore there will always be people in the field working that otherwise could never handle a customer service job at Mickey Dees. The job is about the patient period, you should be working with proffessionals and if not and can't do a thing about it - resort back to the job is about the patient. I do not want to devalue your emotions you have expressed about the stress and horrible issues that do happen. We have on one choice and that is to be true to our patients and ourselfs - that is what counts at the end of the day. It is sad so many fast food is nowing pay as much per hour that you earn at a LTC. Flip burgers or patients? Go figure where some of these people come from - Micky Dees won't hire them. Many others would rather flip a burgers than do our job. You have to take it for what it is worth-always be true to yourself. This is a job you love or you just don't do it. Bad people do not make choices for us.

help me choose
While you have one child a 1 yr old and another 4 months old and you are in the swing of things - go for the prize. If you slow down you may never achieve a BSN. Just remember when you do achieve your goal - everyone in the healthcare business and it is a business - the good ones always know where they came from and know the biggest blessing we can work and we all are indeed a team.

What to put on resume?
ADON's that hire have alot of reading on their plate and don't want to hear if you can make a bed and if you preform peri-care and if you turn patients. List your experience describing the type of facilities that you have worked in. You also don't stand much a chance to being hired unless you have a lic.. Also with a license you need your TB. Better paying jobs you need besides experience Hep B, can pass drug testing and a background check. Good Luck!
