To Anyone Employed by UMC: This is a link that I found on indeed.com for a NEW GRAD ER position, but is for current UMC employees only: http://www.healthcarejobsite.com/job.asp?id=27865640&aff=925A0F9A-7C85-4AAD-A3D2-5E5C81892E2F&utm_source=Indeed&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=Indeed

Why won't anyone hire new grads?
Spongebob6286, I appreciate all of your verbal support during this time. It is so easy to lose hope in this occupationally destitute environment. I am happy to say that I did receive an offer from St. Rose today for their Versant program (which I ecstatically accepted!!). There truly is a reason to maintain optimism in an otherwise pessimistic economy!

Why won't anyone hire new grads?
I has been quite some time since I have posted. I am so elated to say that I just received a call for an interview with St. Rose for a New Grad position that was posted and I applied for in May !! Just when I didn't think that there were any jobs available in this city, here is one.... I have been looking since June of last year. I so thrilled! Has anyone else received any calls?
- new grad

RN jobs Las Vegas
From speaking to various recruiters, there are an abundance of positions. These are earmarked for experienced nurses only. Does anyone have insight on New Grad positions?

cardiac progressive care/telemetry
Do Las Vegas hospitals have critical care nursing interships for new grads? I am interested in Cardiac CU or ICU.

Las Vegas job outlook?
This is terrible. I have tried to find out when they post for the new grad positions, because I have found that if the position does not specifically state that it is for a new grad then I need not apply. I have received declination letter after declination letter, and I still do not understand. I am a qualified candidate, and I know that I am not by myself. What gives?

Why won't anyone hire new grads?
thanks AdamLV, again, nice to know that we are not alone. When I know something, I will be sure to drop a line. One thing that I know for sure is that Renown Hospital in Reno definitely has openings for new grads. Good Luck!

Why won't anyone hire new grads?
I am sooo happy that someone has found a job! I was really getting discouraged when I received a letter from a hospital that said, "Congratulations on your graduation and the start of your new career as a Registered Nurse. You have chosen a great path. We are honored you have considered us as your employer of choice. However, at this time we are experiencing a large influx of new graduates within our community and have very limited openings for the newcomers. We hope you understand and would like to reassure you that your name and information is being retained for future reference." So, suffice it to say, I guess the environment does not consider unemployed applicants equally. I was very disappointed, as we all need to work. I have submitted apps to every acute care facility in Las Vegas. It seems that I just missed the boat on NEW GRAD opportunities. I will remain persistent though. Even If I have to wait until January when they repost the next round of NEW GRAD positions, I will stay on top of things. If anyone hears anything, by all means please drop a line. Thanks

Why won't anyone hire new grads?
I share your concerns. I issued a similar post. Before I moved to Vegas, I saw several job vacancies with Valley Health as well as UMC. Now nothing. Then to top it off, I read an article on CNN.com that stated that Nevada comes in at #5 in the nation as one of the hardest hit states as it relates to unemployment: 12%!!! No wonder we are having a hard time. I even pursued school nursing. Received an immediate callback and was told that I could reapply when I had six months experience. I truly do not know what to do. I would even be willing to work part-time, float pool, anything. I have not received any callbacks. Sure I could wait until they post new grad positions again for next year, but what about the meantime? I will say that I am considering travel nursing on weekends as a last resort. All of this is simply put, extremely frustrating. It is good to know that I am not alone. Thanks
