  1. Thankyou you guys, thats all really great advice. I just interviewed for a float plool type position, and the hospital that I interviewed at does a 40 hour New grad transition, to help ease you into that role. Sounds good, i think that this is the first time that they have ever done that. I to before I start my shift on clinicals, go around and orient myself with my patient, I start a sheet write down main info, look at meds and chart when meds are due, and or procedures. It seems to help me keep on track and what I need to know at what time, I take notes on my hand or paper towel thats a great idea with the tape in the pocket.
  2. I am about to graduate and was wondering, is it easy to change from the role of a student to a RN and the best way to adjust to that?
  3. I actually did that.....I applied and entered the LPN program then after first semester I recieved my LPN then I transitioned into the RN program. LPN's at CSI do a ton more clinicals than RN students. I felt that I was better prepared and did fairly well when I transitioned into the RN program. I am just finishing up and am precepting right now getting ready to graduate in December. It was more money do it the way I did, but I think that I am happy that I did it this way, it really only put me behind a semester and I have a nursing license to use.
  4. I agree with you on that!!! Good for you! congrats! good luck!
  5. Because I think that I should get some Critical Care nursing under my belt and make sure that I can do great assessments. I had thought about going into ER right away, but ER and ICU go hand in hand so I think I will benefit more by the ICU at this point.
  6. The more education you have, the more knowledge and power you have. If anything obtain your BSN for personal achievement. Why shouldn't a BSN have a higher pay, they went an extra step to get that degree. Your right we all do the same job, but the more education you have the more options you have. Just as an ADN can have other credentials like ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CRN, CERN, and so on that raises their pay over any other ADN or BSN.
  7. I think I have good time management! The ER is very busy and I seem to multitask and prioritize pretty good. For my LPN l precepted in the ER and did ok. I am precepting in a neuro unit right now, for and It is really an eye opener. The patients are so complex.
  8. Thankyou. I worked as a Unit coord, the a clinical assistant.

I am just getting ready to graduate and was wondering, is it easy going from the student role to the actual, I am the nurse role?
  10. If you had your LPN you can transition in to the Boise State program. To get into to BSU you have to first take a placement test, that allows you to apply. It is hard to get in. You can also look at outside area schools such as CSI or ISU.
  11. It doesnt pay the same, where I am from if you have your bsn its an extra 50cents which is an extra 1000 dollars at the end. Look into your hospital human resources and ask them what the pay difference is.
  12. I am about to graduate, and want to end up as a ER nurse eventually. I have worked in the ER for the last 5 years and I have an interview coming up to for the ICU. I am taking ACLS and PALS before I graduate. Is it a good idea for new grads to go directly into the unit?
