Would You Accept Swine Flu Vaccine?
For the person above asking to see an example of a medical/science preofessional stating why he won't get the swine flu vaccine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1z7KSEnyxw

Creative Staffing Solutions for PACU
Ours is similar. Everyone gets assigned weekend call once a month. There is a notebook with a list of calls that people are willing to give up. Anyone can take it if they want. Some people pick up a lot. Some people end up not having to do any.

When is a gurney unacceptable?
Not sure what your guidelines are. If they are bariatric patients (big people) or ortho patients (more eqipment), they usually need the extra room, so they are on beds.

Where after PACU?
In my opinion, I don't think I will go anywhere after PACU. I like it.

Newbie - ICU vs PACU
Hi! I worked in critical care for many years and at a few different hospitals. I am now working PACU and love it. I will not go back. But would I recommend you leaving ICU right now? No. Although I am glad I am not in ICU anymore, I am glad I have the years of experience under my belt. Stick it out for another year or so. Get at least 1-2 years of critical care experience and then see what you want to do. As for PACU being structured? Not really, like the above post says. But it's nice having patients in and out quickly rather than for 12 hours straight, day after day. But not as hectic as the ER in my opinion where people off the street roll in for random things.

I do not want to go back
I had those thoughts about my friends when I was right out of school too. That maybe an office type job was the way to go. But now I realize that with nursing there are SO many options to specialize in which DON'T suck. Also the scheduling is great for parents and many of those office jobs are not. Also, those same people that appear to be loving life right now may not have job stability or make as much money as you, esp after a few years and they are bored. Give it some time.

Am I Wrong To Think This?
I think the commitees should be optional and most definitely have no effect on your salary.
