  1. If you are living in NYC you may have a better chance at getting a job as a new RN. It may not be in a position that you want or the highest pay but you can get hired. You can try applying to different temporary agencies and nursing homes. apply for the schedules others don't want such as the 3-11pm or weekends and overnights. I cant leave names here but if you go to indeed.com, careerbuilder.com and monster.com you will get some opportunities. Don't give up. I have been there done that. I am now an RN but was also an LPN and in the same boat as you when I initially attained my LPN five years ago. I was blessed to get hired with no experience at two temp agencies in the city at that time. Before I got hired I became desperate and also wanted to do CNA work since the bills keep coming in. If you look for home care jobs or even private pay you get a chance too as many are willing to train a new nurse. RN's are in so much demand here in NYC for nursing homes that they will hire you.
  2. I'm the original poster the PV trick is accurate. I looked at my state board and my license number is posted. I passed this time around second attempt. My God is good and real... Thank you Jesus!!!!!! I'm an RN now. Someone pinch me.....
  3. I just took the test this morning . Did all 265 questions. I got the good pop up this time...... The waiting is soooo tedious to see if it's true . Praying so hard to God to have mercy and let it be true. But won't get my hopes too high. Maybe just a little...
  4. Thanks for all the responses. It is official. I failed. I got the CPR in the mail last week. What sucks is that I received mostly "above passing level" on most of the contents and some at "passing level". The CPR they mail you states that in order to pass the NCLEX we must be at "above passing level" for all the contents. I almost made it. I pray that I can pass next time especially learning that:banghead: I almost passed. The CPR guide is helpful in telling you how you did, a little heart breaking but also consoling at the same time..... FYI the CPR also states something along the line of timing out before reaching the full 265 questions when you are at or below the passing rate will cause you an automatic fail. Perhaps, if I had reached the full 265 I may have passed. But I am studying harder now and will pass it next month.
  5. Reganna. Save your self a contract and from spending money on college network. The best way, is to go through Excelsior directly. You can purchase the required Excelsior text books or even college network modules on Ebay. You can also clep. It will cost you less. The college network only sells you really expensive books binding you into a contract with large payments. They are not affiliated with Excelsior College.
  6. Hello, I paid for the quick results about two hours ago :blackeye:and yeah I failed. But I will start up again tomorrow with the virtual ATI. I guess I was not as ready as I thought. I want to retake as soon as the 45 days are up. Skyping to study is not a bad idea. We will beat this NCLEX the way we beat nursing school.
  7. :) CONGRATZ!!!!!!!!
  8. I guess I must of failed then. I am still getting the results not available message. Back to step one and begin studying for NCLEX again. I won't give up!
  9. It has been a couple of years since I opened this post and I wanted to update that I did complete the Excelsior LPN-RN program this past summer. I was able to successfully cancel the college network contract with a significant balance after already paying them a great amount. I complained and let them know how I was deceived into it. They did blemish my credit with some late payments. I threatened lawsuits and was my own advocate. It was a battle but eventually they cancelled the remaining balance. The advice given here was great. Thanks to everyone.
  10. Hi Shieyecla, I applied for CT and will then endorse to NY. I like your thinking to try again after 45 days. I will try as well. I want to have a little bit of hope of still passing. My quick results are still unavailable and it has been 2 whole days...
  11. I live in CT. Don't lose faith or cry. You have more of a chance of getting a pass than me because I did the Pearson Vue trick and it took my payment to reregister for the next exam. I know for sure that I have failed. I will get back up again. I did a new separate post on it here and someone responded that it is likely I failed because it timed out before the full 265 questions. On another note I love your name I will say the same thing until I get the "RN" after my name just as you will have it in a day or two....
  12. I took my test RN NCLEX yesterday and ran out of time after 235 questions. I did the pearson vue trick and my card was charged..........Feeling sooo bad...... I was wondering what are my chances that my card was charged the $200 and I still passed. Any one out there with a similar experience?
  13. I also took my RN nclex yesterday and ran out o time with 235 question......... I am getting a results not available too but I am hopeful.......
  14. Hello, I understand that this post is old, but after I have been an LPN for almost two years for home care, I have just become a NY Medicaid provider as well. (I just got the congratz letter today) I want to be able to do this just until i get my RN and be able to spend more time at home with my kids in the mean time. the agency i work for pays me peanuts($$in the teens$$) for doing the same work. I was wondering if you were able to get your own cases, are you able to make a decent living from it and how did you do it? I was thinking about advertising in the internet. thanks for any replies, any advise will be greatly appreciated.
  15. LOL! Thank you
  16. Thank you! am not sure, but each state does have thier own practice laws.
  17. :nurse:Graduated LPN school, and passed the boards 2 weeks ago on 1st try, accepted a job offer at a pediatric clinic. I will start this my first LPN job in about 3 weeks. Now, I dont know what to expect or what I should bring besides my stethoscope. should I bring teddy bears, stickers or something in the like? I notice that nurses usually have big shoulder bags with them. Also, I have orientation on the first two days, then on the job training.(as per my hiring persons statement) I was afraid to ask for more details. During lpn school a teacher mentioned that orientation should last more than two weeks . :confused:I am worried. Will they have me shadowing another nurse for some time after the 2 days of orientation? or will I be expected to do all of the LPN duties since during the interview I was told that they desperatly needed lpns because it was a very fast paced busy dept with no time to stop and break if you needed to? This is a very popular hosp with a good rep....any advice will help thanks.
  18. :yeah:congratz,
  19. Now about a year later, I want to give an update on this post ( I made it:yeah:am finally an LPN) (I am the orignal poster) and thank you guys for all the advice.
  20. I think yes, I am also in NY. b4 getting my lic I was told by a potential employer(Pathways to Housing) that I would be able to work as a paid intraship or externship not sure can't remember which terminology she used but I think it had to do with the temp lic you mentioned. God Speed in your job search;)
  21. First of all, congrats on passing the boards! :yeah:I am not sure, but here in NY, after I took my exam and found out I passed about two days later I was offered a couple of jobs and was told to bring my actual license n registration to HR dept once I receive it so that they can make copies since my LPN license was available on the verification website. I accepted one of the offers and will be starting orientation in about 3 weeks. I was so desperate to work that I started applying and even had interviews to jobs b4 even taking the test. (of course I did have several employer rejection calls in response to my resumes telling me I needed a year experience or needed to take NCLEX first) but my perseverance paid off... I guess there really is a nursing shortage. I say give it a go and Good luck on your job search!
  22. :yeah:Pearsonvue trick is true!! Thank you GOD for your goodness to me. My computer test ended at 85 questions and I thought that I would faint. I got the good pop as soon as I got home two days ago while still doubting and today I found out that I passed. :yeah:
  23. Oh help me God, I got home today after taking Nclex and did the PV trick I got the good pop up. I am so doubtful that I passed because I think i guessed on most of the questions. I did cry half the way home I drove almost two hours to the testing site just to get the soonest nclex appt... but at least I have hope of PV trick being true since most users claim it works. I will let you guys know......................
  24. mitchay08 i feel you and i prayed that the lord would encourage you to not give up. i am in the same boat in regards to not having a job. i took my nclex today and cried half way home because i dnt believe i passed either. i will find out in two days. despite studying as much as i did the questions seemed sooo hard. since last night something in my heart kept telling me to review heart conditions and the corresponding meds and i did not because i thought i knew it all, and too many of my questions were on those.... but i wont give up and you shouldn't either. god will not take us this far to just give up on us.
