  1. I'm a former public defender about to start nursing school in NYC this fall. I wish I had done it 10 years ago, but I wanted the "prestige" of law.
  2. I've been selected for an interview. Anybody else hear anything?
  3. What other programs have you applied to?
  4. I'm going to get my grades in the beginning of May, probably all A's. The one class I'm missing is Microbiology.
  5. SInce the deadline is June 1st, will we have time to send them Spring semester grades?
  6. I wonder how I am going to finance this, though, since I have to rely on loans and don't qualify for Pell Grants.
  7. How did you hear about interviews? Is that something new?
  8. I think you're right, that the deadline is later in the year. I think if your GRE is over 1000, you are competitive. They also take MAT scores, think about taking that test instead. I got into the Spring program, but needed Microbiology, so I'm re-applying for Fall.
  9. I heard it might not be until late April or early May, since the deadline is not until April 1.
  10. Hello all! Have you applied to Pace University's Combined Degree Program (CDP) in New York City for Fall 2010? I applied and I am awaiting my acceptance or rejection notice. If anyone feels comfortable sharing their GRE/MAT scores or GPA, and whether or not they were accepted, I would be really appreciative. Also, maybe if I get accepted, we could start getting to know each other before the semester starts. Good luck to all! Mark
  11. I didn't get in to UF, but have been accepted to other programs. Good luck to everyone!
  12. No mail on sunday!!! Arrgh!
  13. I haven't gotten anything yet either, so don't stress.
  14. Just curious...I am living in FL right now (student) but am thinking of applying to ND and SD hospitals because the unemployment rate in those states is low. I would be looking for a med/surg position. How were you able to handle the interview process given the distances between ND and CA? Thanks, Mark
  15. It's complicated, but would rather finish my pre-reqs at community college and then do a one-year.
  16. I got into the one-year program, but I had to drop microbiology, so I am going to apply again for the fall semester. They offered me the two-year program, but that was ultimately too expensive. Their deadline for people submitting a non-refundable deposit was November 18, so they must now know how many people accepted. So I imagine that they will be contacting some people on the "waiting list." Good luck, and if you don't get in, try somewhere else! Don't give up!
  17. Either I will get in or I won't get in, but I have absolutely no control over the matter at this point. I sent in my application, and I have no influence over the process now. So worrying about it (which I do) is just wasted mental energy. If I don't get in, there are plenty of other programs out there. Take a deep breath. Let it out. Repeat process. Take it one day at a time.
  18. Call them and ask to speak with someone about your file. Ask them directly if they want any progress reports.
  19. Is anybody taking prerequisites for Pace University's accelerated program this semester? If so, how many and what are you taking right now? I'm taking A&P II and Microbiology right now. Thanks.
  20. They wouldn't offer you the job if they didn't think you could handle it.
  21. A compound must have at least two different types of elements (i.e., sodium chloride, NaCl) or else it is not a compound. Protons are positive, electrons are negative. If an atom has an equal number of protons and neutrons, it is electrically neutral. But electrons can be shared or "stolen" between atoms depending on how many electrons they already have. Since protons are positively charged and electrons are negatively charged, if there are more electrons than protons, the atom or molecule will be negatively charged. This is called an anion. Conversely, if there are more protons than electrons, the atom or molecule will be positively charged. This is called a cation.
  22. I spoke with someone at Pace today and they said decisions will some in September or October. I hate the wait!
