  1. graduated in dec 2008....been looking....moved....hired with home health in july but still looking for hospital job
  2. I graduated and passed nclex same as you....i moved to jax to be in the rn-bsn program and have been applying to places since april. I just got hired with PSA so try them and i signed up with mollen immunization clinic for flu shots as well....they pay $22/hr for rns....better than no job and for the one that wants to move to jax....please don't....it sucks here...not only in nursing but in general...unless you surf but even then its not worth living here
  3. Don't get me wrong....they suck. I think the purpose is to get the student to think (I'm still a student....I went right back to school after ADN) and when I mean think I mean that student/ nurses actually go through the process in their heads...the instructors just want it written down to see how the student nurse is conveying it. Yes the instructors are nit picky....I have written many of my "best ones" over because my instructor thought it was wrong but I must admit it has taught me to be careful with my wording in documentation. As nurses (unless a nurse practitioner), we can not diagnose...we can only make it obvious to the doctor. You will see care plans again but they will be on the computer and most of the time it will be written in for you.
  4. I served on the board at my school as a corresponding secretary and I enjoyed it and went to conventions that truly opened my eyes to the nursing profession in whole new way. It was included in our tuition that we (the class) joined NSNA. It's a nursing associations just like others only the specialty is nursing students. It provides support to the student nurses and the money goes towards scholarships for other students. I don't believe it is a waste unless you don't use the resources and don't get involved. I hope this helps among the negative feedback.
  5. It's is overwhelming that's why it is safe to call it accelerated lol. I'm sure you will push through and do great and I know it is a lot of material. I was overwhelmed in nursing school and it wasn't even a fast track. My school had us pay (through tuition) to use the evolve.elsevier.com website and do the case studies. Those case studies helped me to think in the way the exam wanted me to. I had to take them all. The fundamentals is probably the easiest and then it increasingly gets harder but that is only because the material is more complex such as med-surg, it's about the disease process and side effects of common drugs and such. I have never had to use the book so I don't know about it but I am sure it is good. Good luck to you and I am glad you have decided to become a nurse!
  6. There is no good or bad....no matter what number it shuts off you will still feel miserable. When I took it, it shut off at 75 and I about cried. I had the feeling of "wait, give me one more question, I want to get one right!" I think you may have passed so give it a day or two and look it up online. I actually googled myself to find it. I hope this helps and I wish the best for you!
