  1. You couldn't pay me enough. Our manager is excellent, but totally overworked and on call 24-7. She is so busy covering staff's butts, she rarely has time to cover her own.
  2. BP measurements directly from the dialysis line. What a great idea maybe we could get some engineering person to check into the feasibility of it.
  3. IMHO, every nurse should have to work as a patient care tech. These people are the day-to-day caregivers and know more about the patient than anyone else on the floor. Some things may not get done on a shift,(that's why it's 24-7 care) but not turning and not changing are not acceptable, EVER. I spent twenty years as a tech before I became a nurse, and my best advice is reward the good techs, and use whatever system you have in your facility to reprimand the sloppy ones. In the meantime, give them a friendly reminder that there was a time when depends were cloth diapers that we had to wash, there was once no such things as fitted sheets, and the patients were all jumbled together no matter their condition. Good luck.
  4. The H&H goes up faster if its given SC? Why not give the patient the choice? Ask them if they will take it SC and have the doctor write either/or. Never heard that it made a difference, but am all for it if it works.
