  1. I'm thankful for my health & my family's health. I'm also thankful Thanksgiving is coming up.....pumpkin pie. Yummy!
  2. Pale, I'm sending hugs your way. I can totally relate to your situation. I'm a new grad & I've been working med/surg for about 6 months. Last night I had a horrible night. One pt getting blood, another with low blood sugars, a confused pt trying to get out of bed, another pt was super needy & called every 10 minutes. I left 1 1/2 hours after my shift ended. I felt dizzy & sick because I didn't have time to eat. Hang in there. We'll get through this.
  3. Thanks for the replies!
  4. Hi all. I'm a long time lurker but infrequent poster here on AN. I have a question for all you experienced nurses out there. I'm a fairly new grad & I've noticed that about 90% of my patients are prescribed protonix on admission to the hospital. I've looked up this medication in the drug books & I found it's often prescribed for GERD, but I've noticed it's prescribed for my patients that don't have GERD. I've also noticed it's often started once it's found a patient may have a GI bleed. So my question is, why are so many patients receiving this med if they don't have GERD?
  5. Hi Ray, Try to start your essay off with something interesting. Something that will grab the readers attention right away. That way your essay will be likely to stand out from all the other essay's they have to read. Good luck!
  6. I just started working as a CNA in January at a hospital. Before that I worked at a large insurance company for 5 years where I sat at a desk all day. I was incredibly bored by the office atmosphere, so I started working as a CNA once I began nursing school. It was a bit of a difference from my office job, but I love being a CNA. I love the interaction with patients and the opportunity to see things I've learned about in school, i.e. NG placement, foley insertion. The work is hard and demanding at times, but it's worth it. I hope this helps in your decision.
