  1. I only had 2 options the semester I deferred and the second time around only 1. The semester I deferred I got my second choice. The next semester that option was not available, so I got my first choice. Good Luck to you!
  2. I took the BLS for health care providers course @ Scottsdale HC-Shea for $36 CVS Minute Clinic does the TB skin tests for $28, don't forget you'll need to do this 2 times (1-3 weeks apart) Just got my titers back- positive (have immunity) for Mumps, Rubella, & Varicella but not Measles! Ugh- now I need to pay for shots. Anyone know if I can just get a Measles booster? FYI- the series of Hep B shots needs to all be done @ the same place. Can't start the series with Banner & switch to another provider.
  3. Here is a link to the letter from MCCND explaining the new concurrent option to get your ADN from a Maricopa CC + a BSN from NAU taking only 5 semesters. https://hceweb.maricopa.edu/CFIDE/docs/hcies/studentStatus/Open_Letter_to_Queue_04042011.pdf I'm going to Scottsdale starting in Aug. I would have jumped at the chance to get a BSN for only 1 more semester of school. I already have a BA in Psychology. If you are on the waitlist you should have gotten the email. If you didn't double check your status page.
  4. if i remember correctly you are given a periodic table and i think a formulas/conversions table. you could always call one of the testing centers and ask them what the handouts for CHM 130 are. :)
  5. the chemistry online is easier than BIO 201, 202, & 205. i took it 2 years ago and received an A. it is a very doable class. online quizes and lab reports with midterm and final exam taken in person. sorry i can't recommend an instructor, it's been too long.... good luck! :)
  6. The tests and labs were online. the only tests that need to be taken in person are the midterm and final. i took it 2 years ago, so i don't remember my professor. if you follow the instructions for the labs and use the "lab report template" they provide you'll do great. i really enjoyed taking pictures of the lab experiments to add into the lab reports. i hadn't taken chemistry since high school (which i barely passed) and got an A online.
  7. I took CHM online thru RioSalado and it was very doable. I actually enjoyed chemistry for the first time! Good Luck.
  8. I was just placed in my first choice SCC Traditional program. Good Luck to everyone!!
  9. I was placed in SCC Traditional program. My timestamp was 6/09- and I had to defer last semester's placement. Good Luck to everyone!
  10. Hi all, Next Tuesday is the date for first round placements for Maricopa Community colleges Summer/Fall 2011 nursing programs. Thought I'd start a thread.... My date time stamp is from June 2009. I had to defer placement in the Spring. Keeping my fingers crossed I get placed this time around. Good Luck everyone! oops it's Tuesday 2/22 not the 20th
  11. I took all my online classes thru Rio Salado. I felt Micro was easier than A&P. You might post this in the Arizona Nurses/Education section to get more responses from those that have taken Phoenix College classes. Good Luck! :)
  12. I don't think they like the external link being posted but here it is again.... hceweb.maricopa.edu/cfide/docs/hcies/placementWtBd2.cfm?longDesc=0 cut and paste the line above and then add https:// in front @ peter- I think those are held for re-entries (those that failed block 1) ? but don't quote me on that!
  13. Here is the link to the White board.... https://hceweb.maricopa.edu/CFIDE/docs/hcies/placementWtBd2.cfm?longDesc=0 you need to cut and paste into internet explorer for it to work. :)
  14. My date & time stamp is 06/16/2009 08:02:35AM I have SCC and PVCC as 1st & 2nd choices.
  15. Looking back on past runs CGCC has an accelerated program that starts in May and the traditional program starts in fall. Hope this helps. :)
  16. I have a 6/16/09 date stamp and am eagerly awaiting the placement run on 10/5. On the off chance I get in....how do you accept the placement? By "snail mail", phone or by email? I'll be in NYC during 10 days. I will bring my laptop to check daily/hourly Any advice?
  17. I think the final was similar to the midterm. I wrote out the essay questions and answers in a word document and just kept adding each week. Even if it was just a rough answer and brief application paragraph. That way I could go back the week of the final and add to the essay questions. I felt much more confident about the essays. Flash cards for all the terms in each chapter. I didn't buy the study guide but really utilized the online access to multiple choice questions for each chapter. Good Luck! :)
  18. Could you withdraw without a grade? I thought the deadline was the Saturday of the midterm... Will your essay questions help pull up your grade? You'll need an average of 60% on both midterm and final to pass the class. The good news is the final is not cummulative! I used flash cards, read the book, and utilized the online version for additional test questions. I brought my flash cards with me everywhere!! Maybe an in-class version would be better? I took Bio 156, Chm 130, BIO 201 & 202 thru RIO and currently taking BIO 205. I feel the online classes are much harder. Hope this helps you make the right decision. :)
  19. I have a BA in Psychology. :) 8 weeks has to be tough!! I took the 16 week course over the spring and it was very doable with 2 kids + job. Is it too late to drop and take the 16 week version instead?
  20. the questions are new. no repeats that i recognized from the lessons. the class is time consuming but doable. i created flashcards and reviewed them constantly. good luck! =)
  21. I just finished Rio's BIO 202 and used the CD's & online access to study and complete much of the lab work. My books were from Rio's BIO 201 the previous year, and didn't always match up exactly. I think you'll need the CD's and a pretty recent edition of book/lab manual. Good Luck!
  22. My date time stamp is 06/16/2009 08:02:35AM. Coming up on a year... I am currently taking BIO 202 online @ Rio and setup to take BIO 205 onine @ Rio in the fall. I'm really hoping to get in Jan 2011. If not I'll take a Pathophysiology class + Medical terminology class to keep me in "study mode"!
  23. have you tried the free mesa community colleges itunes university pathophysiology lectures online? [color=#0995ea][color=#0995ea] https://allnurses.com/az-nursing-programs/banner-nurse-fellows-171367-page60.html#post3797600 (see post #593 for instructions) i plan on listening/watching/studying over the summer. and the terminology course is hcc 145. you could always check out the bookstore online for the required book and just buy that one.
  24. I'm taking BIO 202 online thru Rio and plan on taking BIO 205 in the fall. Debating whether to take online thru Rio on an actual class. If I don't get in Jan 2011 I'll probably take a terminology class or pathophysiology. Any idea when they do the run for Spring placements? :)
  25. My application was date & time stamped in June 2009, so not very long
