  1. What are the pre req's to get into the CAC RN program? Is it easier than going with the Maricopa Community Colleges???
  2. I have another question about this program. My hubby is concerned that once you finish the program and work for Banner that they will short change you on pay since you owe them 3 years anyway? I'm assuming this is totally untrue but hubby is throwing it all out there???? Also do you still need BIO 202 and BIO 205 done before applying for the program?
  3. Oh I see. That explains it, hopefully it will not be to technical. So far I really like the book, it's easy to understand.
  4. Happy Mother's Day to all. Do you need to buy additional items to do BIO 156 labs? I'm not quite sure how it will work the lab kit is very basic. Where are all the raw materials like onions or frogs to dissect???
  5. Thank you for posting that is very encouraging, I'm ready chapter 3 right now and will probably read a chapter a day till I finish the book, I need to give myself a lot of time to get this in my head.....
  6. Question for those of you in this program, will they accept you if you don't want to work full time after graduation but would rather work only 2 12's a week? My understanding was that full time is considered 3 12's. Let me know as I'm considering it seriously but with my family really only want to work part time until my kids are grown or older...
  7. I hope by the time I graduate, in like 3 years there will be jobs.
  8. Is it horrible for me to be looking forward to working graves and getting away from my family? I just need a job, a career something....besides being the maid, driver, and all call emergency person around here :)
  9. Yep, and toys and socks, and school work, it's embarrasing sometimes to drop my kids off at school with cheeto stains on the door. I'm hoping when I become a nurse I can afford something more upscale but at this stage in life I'll just manage. We are on one income and can't afford a lot of luxury, like carwash, God forbid my hubby does it, he's too tired after a long day of work, wonder what he thinks I do all day with 3 kids, 2 with learning disabilities and IEP"s at school, guess he thinks I'm Peggy Bundy.
  10. Me too, I need the car washed and all the french fries removed from the backseat!!! I just wish for mothers day my hubby would take my kids out and I could just sit at home alone in silence for about 12 hours. That would be perfect for me.
  11. I got my BIO 156 book yesterday and read chapter 1 and 2, not too bad but I wonder what the instructor will actually want us to know, I"m taking it online at Rio. does anyone know if the syl. will tell us exactly what we need to know??? Are the instructors pretty clear, I'm not sure if I can cram all this into my head...
  12. I meant there is "hope" for me, thanks for sharing, I've heard a lot of negatives about Rio so your post is reassuring, keep us posted on your progress, congrats on your submission of your application, I can't wait to get there!
  13. Off topic but how did you all do on the NET exam, is it hard? Do I need to get a study guide? I'm hoping to do that over the summer too....boy looks my schedule is going to be super full the next 3 years....
  14. awesome so there is home for me..
  15. Yeah, I will not be taking CHM, but I will be taking medical terminology, my dad's a nurse and highly recommended it, he said it would help a bunch once you're in the program. I'm going to be taking the 8 wk BIO 156 I've decided, that will ensure that I will have my application in by the end of the year. How was BIO 201 on line at Rio?
  16. You are so lucky to have an awesome mom to watch your kids...keep us updated on your progress.
  17. I'm thinking of taking BIO 156 also in 8 weeks, is it doable? I'm a stay at home so I have a lot of time, while my 2 older kids are in school. I also have a 3 yr old at home but she kinda entertains herself....
  18. I'm so glad I'm not the only mom doing this, it makes me feel better and not so alone and crazy. I have the application already ready to go and printed out, I just need to get these classes done. Did you go to see an advisor at rio or did you just go down there and submit it? Did you need to submit any offical transcripts? I went to college some years ago and there is were I earned a majority of my pre req...congrats betty711! Do you have any idea what the wait time is for Rio? You'll have to keep us updated on your progress! For all the mothers, what schedule are you hoping to work with three kids? I was thinking night shift only two times a week. I don't think I can do much more then that and keep up with my family......I hope I can get a job when I'm not looking for full time....
  19. That may not be a bad idea, since the wait is so long to get into a program, I may go ahead and take it again. After I have all of my prereq done to get into the program. I pray I can get through both BIO's.
  20. Thanks for responding and for the tips! I took High School Chemistry so I'm hoping I can bypass CHM 130, waiting to here back from advisement on that....
  21. thanks for posting, i've been hearing rio is very hard with the BIO's. Looks like you did fine.....how are you preparing for the NET test? I can't wait till December to apply then hurry and wait to get approved? Although I'm in a 16 week course, can you work with your professor to do it in 14 weeks? I'm hoping to do this so that I can get into BIO 201 and have it all done by mid December...they will not allow you to get into BIO 201 till grade for BIO 156 has posted.....share your experiences with online science...is it really tough???
  22. I'm not sure who I have yet. I'm hoping to get the two classes done and then apply to the nursing program. Rio will be my first choice due to the online issue not taking too much time from my family. I'm a bit nervous about it, this is a big step for my family and I wonder if I'll ever get into Rio's or any other nursing program with the wait list.....hopefully while I wait I can do the bio 202 and micro.....keep in touch, let me know how it's going
  23. How is BIO 156 going? Any tips???
  24. Those are the classes I need to take too before applying, plus my NET exam, I'm hoping to apply by the end of the year. I"m going to RIO where are you going? I wish I could do a face to face but childcare cost are high for a stay at home mom?
  25. I'm a mom of 3, youngest is 3.5 years old, and I've decided to go for it and get my ASN. I'm trying to figure out which schools have the best schedules for mom of 3. I guess it's Rio or Gateway part time right? Anyone have any other info about flexible schedules? I"m also taking my BIO 156 and BIO 201 at Rio, of course I'm nervous as heck about that. I have taken online classes before and done well, just not a SCIENCE class on line. I know the wait may be 2 years but I figure I can take BIO 202, and micro bio during that time.....I'm nervous as heck.......any other moms out there????
