I actually find that sad that you said that. I am currently working on my DNP and that was AFTER deciding against CRNA school (which I was accepted in)... but I wanted to be a nurse not a Dr. There is a HUGE difference... if you are not a nurse yet... when you get done and are one..you will see...... R

Well I have spoken to several people in the two classes aghead of mine..and they have NOTHING but the most positive things to say about the program and the PD...Which is not Suprise. The PD at LSU..and her track record speaks for itself..I am relocatong across country...Seattle to orlando..to attend this program..it was the only one I applied to. Nursing education is not easy and CRNA education has the deserved of being the hardest..."FOR GOOD reason"...and with that kind of marathin..i want a PD director and her hand picked staff to be the ones to mentor and grow me. There is a vast difference between a generic RN program and a CRNA prgram.... I am sorry about your bad experience but not all programs meet everyones individual needs... The CRNA program at this particular school has nothing but good reviews from everyone in and around that level of nursing... Apples to apples... That is what you need to compare

is it just about the money for you... then run the other direction because crna will not be for you!

WOW the level of or lack of info here in regards to this specialty is phenomenal.... there is plenty of info out there....that is not hearsay... FIRST you need to decide if yu want to be a NURSE or a DR...that is the starting point!

That is absolutely inaccurate.... CRNA's are the only advance practice nurse that have the SAME scope as an MD!

I was not a student with the college but I also got an email... snail mail packets going out Friday as well as Monday....

I would be relocating.... Has anybody heard anything from them yet... IE: interviews etc???

CMC or CSC would not hurt... you cuold always take some masters level classes "to show you can cut that level work" but on the whole you sound pretty good to go...

if I was to go....I would be relocating...

Does anyone ever feel that they are not going to be smart enough to make it. I am not saying we are dummies...but just feel burned out where we are and look and listen to others that are pre crna and think..man I am just not smart enough... sometimes i feel like I am just not smart enough...(and I am no slouch)...especially when I get onto some of the CRNA websites... so here is a poll of sorts...do others feel this way???

I will assume you are talking about the USAGNAP... now held at Fort Sam Houston that starts in June... Here is what I know as I have looked into it VERY recently... You have to concurrently (as a civilian) qualify for 2 things the school and the Army.. you have to be APPROVED for both... the school is not as competitive as some in as much as it does tie you to a military comittment...something that not everyone is jiggy with!!! Now when I say they are not ask competive they only require the basic GPA ...they do not specify what they want the GRE to be... and the References come from your immediate supervisor a peer..and then people in the ARMY they set you up with..IE: the shadowing experience with an Army CRNA etc etc etc... Having said that...this is not to imply the school is not as hard or is any way any easier than any other school...the consistantly tank in the top 3-4 schools in the nation and have the HIGHEST recorded washout rate... I have heard it said by people in the know that they feel it is because their entrance requirments are not as stringent as other schools and that they maight be changing this in the future... BUT they consistently have trouble filling the now 40 seats (I undertsand it was less mut the military needed more)...they have opened those seats up to Airforce individuals and now VA applicants that will pay off their commitment with their respective organizations... If yuo are young and have the energy... and get in the flow of the ICU it is doable.... I would suggest rounding yourself a little...4 12's a week is probably sufficent... congrats on all the sciences..that will go over good... study for the GRE rock that do your time..get good rapport with people so you get good Sincere references and you should be a GO!!!\ good luck...

some schools allow you to have an ADN with a Bachelors in something else.. aka an RN with a bachelors degree

It would depend on how much you are willing to shell out the ADC electronic is the best BAR none... and I have had many... this from a die hard Littman fan
