  1. I read the letter that our attending recieved from the company. They did a recall of the machines because a few hospitals found some bugs in them... starts with an R...Wish I could remember the name!!!!! So they are looking for ways to sterilize them but Im sure it will probably end in bancruptcy I hope not, I love it!!
  2. gasp!!! I dont know if we have a policy!!!!!
  3. our unit needs something too.. but no $$ in the budget
  4. in my level 3 unit... cna's do nothing.
  5. we use sweetease... although i think we are switching to tootsweet (because its cheaper of course). No doc order. but a standard protocol. 0.2 ml x3. Not on NPO or intubated kids
  6. all of our blood products are ordered to be pre-filtered
  7. gosh, it seems like everyone gets survanta in our unit. Im going to say under 32 wks is an automatic. Older than that.... it depends on their resp. status, admit xray, etc.
  8. we have the usual blue/pink crib cards with their info on it (dob,wt, etc) just like the well baby nursery. A very talented nurse we have on Days does calligraphy, and makes each babe their own name card that hangs elsewhere on their bed. Then we decorate them up with stickers (we are big into the suzy zoo here). The parents love them and they are great momentos.
  9. Hi there... I work nights (7p-7a) and sometimes I have the hardest time staying awake. I guess my biggest problem is getting enough sleep before hand... But my question to you all is: What do you do at night (when you have the spare time) to keep from getting too tired!!! TIA
  10. I would love a copy of your "brains".... our unit has a little half sheet that everyone uses.. but its still not good enough for me... I need more organization!! TIA!!! Jessica
  11. we do it just like gompers.....
  12. what kind of fluff are you using?
  13. I LOVE EM!!! :rotfl:
  14. 3 minute scrub and surgical hospital scrubs for us... scrub and gown for parents.
  15. we pull extra nurses from other maternal child units (which happens quite frequently... they will get the feeder grower assignment, no ivs, pretty basic) that are available and then we start calling in for OT... if no one can do that then they use incentive pay... fat cash that hurts the dept budget... needless to say it doesnt happen much!
