Nurse:Patient Ratio on Med-Surg Floors?
Beaumont RO- 1:7 or even 1:8-9 if low staffed, which has been the case with so many people transferring or leaving.

How long for State of Michigan to post my license?
Wow I wish I had whatever convincing power you mustered on the phone with them. The jokers over there lost my transcripts and delayed getting my ATT 3.5 weeks. I know they received them, but I assume they were discarded because I went to school in Oklahoma and my profile was not active (even though they had the paperwork, ie the 6-8 wks processing). Congrats! My license number came through today and was active yesterday! I feel like a dork, but I am excited to get the physical piece of paper in the mail. Oh well, little things in between looking for a job.

How long for State of Michigan to post my license?
Took the NCLEX-RN got the good pop up Wednesday, had a ton of anxiety these past two days whether or not to trust the PVT. I purchased the quick results today, and it says I PASSED. That's right, OCUNURSE, RN, BSN! :) My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone. For the past two weeks I've been praying especially for everyone taking the NCLEX. After going through this whole process, I think that will stay atop of my prayer thoughts for the future. I hope those who did not receive favorable results continue to try their best to pass the NCLEX. "For when I am weak, I am strong" -Paul's second letter to the people of Corinth

NCLEX math calculations question.
Thank you! Hehe I can round, just some of the Kaplan Q questions are not consistent even when it's asking for the same kind of value. You all cheered me up! Test Date August 2nd! :)

NCLEX math calculations question.
Hello, We were told in school that in the new NCLEX all the math calculations would tell you which place they wanted you to round the numbers. Is this true? I am doing Kaplan Qbanks, and I get the calculations correct, but I get the answer wrong because i usually include one "place" too many. Thank you for the help.

How long for State of Michigan to post my license?
Hehe, well congratulations! I'm horrible at the sata and even the easy hotspot ones. My school never included any of the hotspot ?'s in our tests, so I freak when I see one. I've done the laCharity, Saunders and am finishing my Kaplan material. I'm testing august 2nd, but might bump up if there is availability. Would you mind posting when you get your physical license, so I can figure out when my should come. I'm terrified to do the PVT. Did you check right when you got home?

I looked at this post: Is your permanent ID your license number? - Nursing for Nurses I'm not sure if this is typical for everyone, but it looks like it takes about 2-3 business days for them to post your license online. Then another 2-3 business days to receive your physical license in the mail. Congratulations! How many ?'s did ya get?

New Grad RN moving to Michigan, ANY JOBS?????
Oakwood actually spoke with me over the phone. (Only Detroit Metro Hospital to do so). They told me to contact them when I have my license. I apply to multiple positions at DMC on a weekly basis. HF hasn't had much lately for new nurses, and I've tried applying at Beaumont for their internship positions but no luck. I am from out-of-state, so I do not if they are looking at the application and am at a disadvantage because of it. I'm truly hoping and preying that once I have my Michigan RN license some of the area hospitals will take my application seriously. I really want to stay in MI, but I may have to go back to where I went to school. Thank you for the heads up! I'm looking forward to the art fair tomorrow to take my mind off all this stuff for a little bit. I haven't heard of Seasons Hospice. I'm going to look it up in a little while. Thanks again!

New Grad RN moving to Michigan, ANY JOBS?????
Thank you all for the words of advice. I know I've kind of taken over this thread, but I did have a couple of questions for you all. I've been applying for positions for months now as an un-licensed, graduate nurse with very little feedback. I finally have my test date, AUGUST 2nd!!! Wish me luck. Anyway, I am not from the area either. I am heading to Ann Arbor tomorrow for some huge craft fair thing. I like to put a picture with all these hospitals. So I should drive-by St Joes, UofM, and the VA? Are there any others I should be aware of? I've used google. I live in the Troy area, and apply for several positions on a weekly basis. I should start to get some more feedback when I have my license, right?! Cross my fingers that I pass :)! I've been studying for a while now!

Meher, I've been applying constantly too! I've had problems with the BON "processing" all my paperwork. It ended up taking about 12 weeks. Did you already have your license when you were offered DMC positions? I should be testing in the next few weeks. Thanks for your help!

Passed my NCLEX !!
I am currently doing the Kaplan review. They teach you "how" to answer a NCLEX level question while HURST is more geared to content with some questions sprinkled in. If you need to brush up on your content and are comfortable with NCLEX level questions, then I'd save the money and do HURST or one of the online programs. If you're struggling with the questions, ie. "narrow it down to, two answers" or "not sure what the question is asking," then I'd suggest Kaplan.

Passed my NCLEX !!
Wow, Thank you for all the information! Much Appreciated! :yeah:Congratulations!

Passed my NCLEX !!
Congrats! When did you graduate?? How long did it take for all the paperwork to go through? How long before you were notified that you passed? I apologize if I'm asking questions which are too personal. I just moved up here from Oklahoma and have very little information on anything! BUT seriously, CONGRATULATIONS! Hopefully, I'll join the club in the next month or so.

Moving to Detroit, need help.
Hi everyone! I've been going to school in Oklahoma for the past couple of years....soon to graduate with my BSN. My fiance and her entire family live in Michigan(Detroit), and she wants to return there for school. I've only been to Detroit to visit her folks, so the move is quite scary for me. I have a couple questions: 1) I've tried looking online, but do any hospitals offer scholarships for a work commitment?(I'm going to a very expensive private school) 2) Where are some good work environments? 3) How is the nursing job environment in the Detroit area? I've only seen the things on TV about how bad the economy is, in Detroit? Basically, I'm scared out of my mind to move half way across the country. Are there jobs, are there hospitals willing to help out with school. Thanks in advance.
