  1. Just wondering if anyone out there has had an ACL and meniscus tear and what were the treatment for it. If surgery was the way to go, how long was recovery. Meaning how long off feet, to partial wt. bearing, being able to walk around. Have a limited time to get ready for clinical rotation and trying to research options.
  2. As long as you are alive, it's never too late. Always follow your dreams. I believe that famous inventors, like Newton and others were way over 40 when they developed some thing or discoverd things that changed the history of mankind. And when you think about it, you really have another 25 yrs of working, why not so something you will love. I started my CRNA program at 41 will be 43 when I finish. I am still a young pup at heart and mind.
  3. Pass my advice unto your friend. But consider that he may not have met the minimal rfequirements needed for the programs he's applying to! If he has a less than perfect GPA, poor academic performance in the sciences, he may need to take those college courses over and if he does dedicate himself getting straight A's or as cclose as possible. mAKSES You a stronger candiate and shows desire to get in to the program directors. Remember, the best thing that can happen is you do get it, then you have to do the work and that my friend is hellish but worth it my upperclassmen tell me.
  4. Why not reapply and ask the individual programs what willmake you a stronger candiate. I am assuming you have applied before. sometimes they just want to see how much a person is willing to do for this career. They do want people dedicated to the profession not just out for the $$$$$$. Good luck, and remember, "what's for you, won't go by you"!!
  5. I totally agree with Traumanurse and others. Take the time to read anything for pleasure. Am in my 2nd month of 29 month program and really can't tell you when I last really had a chance to even watch the news completely not that I really care unless there is breaking news on how you can memorize a thoussand pages of info a week and recall it word for word in a heartbeat. But if anyone has that news please, please do share! My class thought Chem was kicking our butts, now I think it may be Physiology. All consuming this endeavor is and something you really can't appreciate or anticipate unless your in it. It's more consuming than I imagined. But on the bright side my friends who have traveled this road say it is worth the trip. Besides what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger!!! Peace, out!!
  6. What sucks even more than O-chem is the chem course for crna programs especially if it's slam/blam thank you mam it's all over in 4 wks. At the end of my 1st class in my program and chem makes me want to commit suicide
  7. Keep trying if this is truly the path you can yourself doing this. I just started at CCSU and 3 programs use this university in CT. everyone who is in the Memorial program all are mutltiple appliers
  8. Tell Nate Donna and Lynda said , Hello. How are your classes going, Frank?
  9. I just started school and it's been a very frustrating 2 weeks but when I get discouraged I call my friend who is a CRNA and she lifts my spirits by telling me at the end it was worth it. I pray to St. Rene and Morpheus to guide us through these grueling years. And hopefully that saying is true, "What doesn't kill us, will make us stronger"
  10. I know one of your classmates. Tell Nate who worked in CTICU @ St. Rapheal his buds also students said Hello and get in touch . How are your classes going? My friend and I took Chem last summer with the BPT students and Dr. Lerner. You are lucky to have him as a teacher!
  11. GPA in sciences 3.25. 19 years icu experience mostly cticu. Am am old dog trying to learn new tricks.
  12. just wondering is this an old thread being sent out again to see what response it gets? Have interviewed and accepted into a CT school. starting tomorrow. All of CT's programs have pros and cons, pick the most important aspect of schooling that is most important to you and find the programs that meets that aspect. For me. it was the quality and quantity of the clinical experiece of the individual programs
  13. Starting at HSR- in CT. Which is ST. Rapheals tommorrow 5/24, Totaly freaked!!!
  14. Jenn, this is a great story and comforting because we all doubt our ability and good fortunate to get into our programs and prbably will unto the day we graduate from the crna program. I hope those doubts will be my source of inspiration thru the next 2 1/2 yrs. And it's truly a sign that we belong because we were chosen from a large pool of applicants.
  15. just curious, have recently heard that in the future -- like 5 yrs from now that entry level education for a CRNA will be a PhD. Is this something that is being tossed around by the powers to be and if so, what would be the implications for those of us about to start our Master's prep as entry level ed for being a CRNA. If anyone has any insight, would be interested to hear what it is. Had also heardd that some states are trying to get resp therapists trained to deliver anesthesia, is this what they call A,A.'s. Thanks in advance for any input to this.
