Thank you so much! That is excellent advice. I will get busy recalling when I knew the records/report was falsified to TWC. I did write everything down as it occurred. It feels good to get some support. I will see about an administrative type of nursing job. I so hope that it all works out well, and for the DON I never wanted any negative entanglements. We are both carbon based human beings. So much depends on good communications anytime a client is served. That is the big lesson here for both the DON and me as well as having liability insurance.

I too have heard and read that. That is why the case agaist me has to be strong. My Don was clever and decpetive to avoid appearing discriminatory when I was fired as well.

I heard that the med error has to be reported to each new employer and the new employer must send quarterly reports to the TX BON on the alleged offender. It stays with you. Fair or not. That is a likely outcome for me if I am not believed.

Thank you. No harm came to the resident. The DON ordered me to give the med. It has happened before and she covered me. She has 30 years and I have 6 months. She turned on me this time and I believe it might be ageism or my popularity. I loved and was well loved by the residents, her director and my colleagues and she offered three nurses a job in their twenties and had only one opening. When reported med errors to her on others she was impatient. Nothing was done.Through TWC I learned she falsified my records. All documentation is handwritten. That is why I cried 12 hours unable to stop and wrote that poem. I am down to one meal a day waiting for TWC's decision on UI. I pray they believe me;it will be easier when I go before the board if they do. Meanwhile I can't afford a lawyer or next month’s rent. This home has been mine for 27 years and I am single. It is scary and I pray daily. I am tempted to notify corporate that she falsified records.

I am an older nurse in my second career and recently fired from a wonderful skilled nursing facility in Spring. I loved my job. I made a med error following instructions that I apprently misunderstood. The DON never asked me what happened, just pushed me out the door. The other nurses on my unit were covered for their errors and favored over me, not fired or even suspended. Through TWC, I learned the DON has reported be to the Texas BON. When that case comes up I won't be able to work again as a nurse in Texas. I am so distraught and have fears about my long term future. I have faced ageism in my current job search. I am physically fit with no physical limitations yet. I have a lot of faith but it is still a painful position I am in now. Does anyone have any suggestions for income? Where do nurses go who are older work in Houston, Texas?

Pandapixie, thanks for posting. I too went through something similiar. My lesson was things are not always as they seem. You can shift your thinking. You don't have to be crazy about the learning process and it doesn't matter who you learn it from. It is difficult and painful to learn on the job but we nurses do it. This is a great forum to get great feedback and keep some of your frustration away from the unit. The silver lining: you will pass this testing period and become a more seasoned nurse and a better nurse mentor for it.

The best attorney is you. Many students have been unfairly treated by a professor or two. I too had the same problmes and my GPA was 370. I got well prepared by speaking with other students before me,a favorite professor who walked me through the politics of higher educatin. I collected documentation and made a bulleted list of facts. I went into the Deans office armed with awareness and spoke. I told her the student body was looking for a god outcome. I didin't miss a day. I suggeted that if the instructor is working then I should be attending. That was only fair. You aren't unique. If the school changes grading mid semester, that is grounds to change schools. Start fresh, do your assignments and keep trucking through what seems like an enormous task, You will graduate if you are determined.

I am a new graduate and have not had an interview yet. I was a student professional nurse for three months and I have applied to three internships that begin in May or June. Wishing everyone luck!

It was a knowing. My great g'father managed a childrens's hospital, my g'mother was pre-med before she married. y other set of g' parents were professors. I was influenced by them. My goal was to go into nursing right out of high school. Instead, I became a surg tech at the Heart Institute. Then came marriage and baby; and a stay at home mom. 32 years later, I began school to be the RN I had known I would be. I am 55 now and going into my last semester. I love helping people and learning, making it a stimulating career choice. It is going to be wonderful to love my work.

This too shall pass. This is not typical. This sort of thing happens in regular business too. Irregularities for me is the norm and I would journal/document it to be true to myself. I love this field and that feeds a momentum to overcome difficulties. Much good luck finding a path that mets your needs a little better.

I am 55 and entering my last semester of the RN program this fall. No worries! There is much diverstiy in Nursing. I am aware of a 65 year old student nurse. Go forward toward your aspirations, you can do it.

I hear you! I have seen videos about the problems on youtube called horizontal abuse or violence

I know there is something I can do for the benefit of all students that have come for an education through the doors of my school and were abused. None should be mistreated. I am in this position for a reason. I am sure it is to help other nursing students. I will use this day to learn all the avenues I have to better the situation. I have a hard time sitting back witnessing someone injure at will. I am blessed with wonderful friends and students that support me and this board where I can research options. I have come here often and found help. I will keep you all updated on this and in my prayers. Blessings!

This nurse is gunning for students each semester. It is hard for me to let this go because of my love for them and my own future. Is there any hope besides exposing them to the media which would be my last resort. I know there is a provision for nurses to report activities that are not in accordance the practice act. They protect their identity and begin an investigation. I am older and this is my last chance to graduate. I was recently deserted and Ihave this last opportunity to complete school now. I have one more semester or take what ever job I can and remain under employed. This has been my dream for 35 years.

i was sent home because i had done too much work on the wrong chapters due later in the week and didn't complete the one i needed by day of clinical. i called to tell her what happened and that i knew she would send me home, she said no, come in, i did and then sent me home anyway after a tongue lashing so to speak. i was told there would be no pip. then she called to have me come in to get my assignment for missing class, the other instructor are much easier and you do not have to get a pip, just an 8 page paper to make up the clinical time. she said come by my office and i will give you your assignment. when i got there she had written a long 2 page single spaced letter about the incident. i said what incident? i was amazed. she also changed her mind and gave me a pip or needs improvement. then the new system started, come in with a low grade, not failing grade and review your test and receive a pip. everyone who received a lower grade came in but this my second pip was also full of the added work mentioned above. no one else was given the duties to perform. when i could not complete all the tests, case studies, study guide and care plan, and website exams, she sent me home from clinicals saying i was out. i felt i was set up to fail but was sure. indeed i was.

Yes there were reasons. My part was coming to clinical with three extra chapters done and only a part of the chapter that was required. She sent me home. The stress at that point was overwhelming and making me crazy. I did not connect her actions to our previous problem. The 8 week course is compressed and we had a lot of papers to write, along with exams everyweek and I was too busy to think of myself. She grades us differently and I have some documentation on that. I have some audio documentation.

i was placed in a clinical group with an instructor who i reported for wrong behavior two semesters ago. she found out about it. since there were prior hostilities toward me, i realize her severe treatment toward me came from an agenda to retaliate, naïveté. i assumed i could trust the system and that the problem had been corrected. i did my best to survive and hang in there but she found a way to fail me. she gave me work i could not complete on a new needs improvement program. when i brought the work to clinicals in a huge folder, she would not receive it. i explained i stayed up 72 hours straight with no sleep to complete it and it is impossible for anyone to do it all. it corresponded with a huge comprehensive care plan due at the same time and an exam which i could not study for but passed. if an instructor does not help a student putting forth the effort, she has let the student down. i more than made up my clinical hours. instead she said you know what that means; it means you are out of the program. i will have to fail you on theory also so you would have to reapply to this program. i was not failing in either course. i need some protection so that she will not succeed. i need help in putting together a letter to the administration of the school and any resources a student has. i have seen this done to others and now it is me. thank you for any advice.

I am 54 and have one more year to graduate.
