  1. I have yet to find a course and I am in the Jackson Tn area. I am told some hospitals teach you once employed its like the chicken before the egg!!! I want to get certified too! good luck
  2. Thank you, Jackson is the closest area for me too. Boy its a big difference from what I had read about perhaps the biggest difference is being an RN. I have made more money per hour doing frangrance modeling and no experience needed there. Sad
  3. I want to try to get into the bridge program which is LPN to RN in one year. There is limited space and only one class per year. One of the requirements is the ACT test. Ive never taken one. Any suggestions on what to concentrate on or if the nursing ACT is different than a general college entrance ACT???? Any help would be appreciated!
  4. I am about to graduate and I have NO IDEA what to expect for an hourly rate. I am new to TN and I am brand new to this field. I don't want to over sell myself nor under sell myself. I thought about being honest and stating such at an interview but I don't think that would be a good idea. I have gone online and tried to research currenty salaries but I am not sure how accurate the websites are and of course job postings do not stage wages. I'd greatly appreciate any info anyone can give!
  5. Thank you so much and good luck to you!
  6. I just wanted to know if anyone has actually gone through this school and became an RN. I am turning 47 this year and I'd like to continue on but I am afraid of online schools. Do you actually get a degree are you actually employable. I am totally foreign to this type of learning and at my age I can't take any chances. I'd appreciate any comments!
  7. Okay, Im going to be 46 soon and I am in my last trimester studying mother/baby. Its heard we only have 4 tests and must maitain an 81 or get thrown out of the program. First test I got an 84 bearly made it. Also have an ATI on this section too and need a 70 the highest I've done on practice is 66. I'm feeling nervous and am wondering what was I thinking starting over at my age. I want it but my morale is a little low. Anyone else go through periods of self doubt?
  8. Wow, I wish our school had a lab like that! Our "dummies" are not the greatest like some of the other quotes state.
  9. Thanks, I am not sure I even know what med surg is all about yet. Guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
  10. Okay, can anyone tell me a good way to remember the way the blood flows through the heart and does anyone know of a good website for pictures? My book names all these linings we need to know but the picutures and not conducive for me to learn the lables...... I am getting everything else though. .... Please... have a heart okay, corney I know.
  11. Thank you. From some of the replys it looks like my school might break down sections differently. Med surg is a totally different content from A&P. Yea Pharm was hard I can't believe we did it first!
  12. I just finished Pharm and we are now starting in on A&P. I'd like people to share what section they tought was the most difficult. I know it will differ from person to person buy I would kind of like to know what "maybe" to expect. Thanks!:redpinkhe
  13. Wow... I still dont get it. Thanks for your help I still don't understand if only 300ml is left why are they using 700mg in the calc. To me it seems like you had 1000 and now 300 is left you would calculate how long to infuse 300. God help me!
  14. Yes I understood that part but don't you use the 300 because they ask how long it will take to finish the infusion. Isn't the 700ml gone?
  15. I came across a website and I am trying to learn how to calc meds to get ahead start before that section comes up because it will be my weakest. This is the problem... I came up with an answer of 20 is this problem worded wrong or am I not getting it? 1 litre of 5% Dextrose in 0.9% sodium chloride is prescribed over 7 hours. The drop factor is 20. The infusion has been going for 2 hours and 6 minutes. 300 millilitre remains. What is the drip rate (drops / minute) required to ensure the infusion finishes on time? Volume to infuse = 1 litre - 300 millilitre = 700 millilitre Time for infusion = 7 hours - 2 hours and 6 minutes = 4 hours and 54 minutes The formula for calculating drip rate is: volume (ml) X drop factor (drops/ml) -------------------------------------- = drops / minute time (min) Place the values in the formula:- 700 X 20 ---------- 294 14000 = ---------- 294 = 47.6190476190476 drops / minute Why are they using 700???? Also can anyone suggest a drug calc book for dummies? My test book does not give enough examples. thanks !
  16. I am just wondering if some schools are harder than others? TTC states you must have an 81 average on all tests with a 90 or above on the ATI and 100 on the medcalc test. Also I have heard they test you once to twice per day???? Thanks in advance for any imput
  17. Thank you for your imput... I guess I better find a way I do not have to work. I am trying not to totally freak out and ask for my money back before I even start
  18. WOW! one to 2 sometimes 3 tests a day.??? Are you for real? On the same subject matter or different? Do they instruct you on something and then test that same day? I am truly scared now!
  19. I am going to TTC Lexington. Good luck!
  20. Hey, I live in Tn and start May 4th as well ... where are you going to school? I too am trying to get a jump start on things as I am older and very nervous. I have been trying to learn the bones and major muscles as well as the systems.
  21. Thank you I am new to this site. I will definately look up the sticky thread area.
  22. Has anyone downloaded any of the on line quiz sites to try and prepare for the med calc test and if so did it help? Thanks
  23. I say no too but do you have a written job offer / acceptance letter? That would make me feel better when giving my notice.
  24. I am about to start LPN at Tenn Tech in May and I am extemely excited. I have about 36 college credits but I havent been to school in ages. I am now starting over at 45. EEEK I am hoping that I will get my license and my goal is to then continue on to receive my RN. I am trying to do research now but it seems a bit confusing to me. It seems the fast track is still the same amount of credits and time needed? 65 and 2 years??? Does receiving your LNP make it easier to get into an RN course and are some schools easier than others? I am in the Jackson TN area. for your thoughts!
