Hi Designer NP, I'm a bit of an interesting case. I live abroad (currently England) and move every 2-3 years due to my spouses career. I hold a VA license and practiced there in the past. Occasionally, we will land back in DC/VA for a few years at a time. I know some physician spouses in my situation who have worked remotely (from abroad) in virtual medicine, so I'm exploring trying to figure out if there may be a similar option for me as a NP. It would be ideal as a career I could take with me from place to place. I know many groups require you to reside in the state or attend onsite clinic periodically, which is unfortunately not an option in this case! I appreciate your reply!

Does anyone know of a Telemedicine group that hires NPs? Specifically looking for remote (from home) options. I know they exist for doctors (doctors on demand, etc), but haven't had luck finding anything similar with NP employees. Thanks!

Hi all, I'm a new FNP and I'm wondering about my title. I passed AANP, so I'll be FNP-C. I was previously certified as a pediatric RN. Do I still use that in my title? Am I ounurse MSN, FNP-C, CPN? Or just ounurse MSN, FNP-C?

I wanted to comment that I also recently passed the AANP FNP exam on the first attempt and I had a similar study plan/ timeline. I lurked here a lot when preparing, so I wanted to contribute. I also started my studying by taking a Fitzgerald course at the beginning of my last semester. I ended up also doing a second run with her CDs. I liked the class, but for me I think I could have saved the money and just used the CDs. I , personally, liked the CDs more because I could tackle a system a day and take my time with it. I studied for about 7 weeks before the exam, as well. The first 4 weeks I studied 3-4 days a week for 4-5 hours a day. The last 3 weeks I studied every day for 4-5 hours a day. I did the familynpprep practice tests, but I didn't feel that helped me much. Mostly, they helped me practice for taking the computerized test, but I didn't feel they added much to my knowledge base. After finishing all of the Fitzgerald sections, I read the Leik book (the new version). Even though the book as some formatting issues, I found it really helpful and easy to read. I took a practice test from AANPs website at the beginning and at the end of my studying with a 20% improvement in my score (65% before studying and 85% after), which helped me feel that I was ready to test. I felt that the test was very fair. Not easy, but not too hard. I studied too in depth, when the exam really did test mostly on broad concepts. Good luck to all of you!

Hi all, My question is for current or accepted U of Cincinnati distance MSN students. I am set to start the FNP distance program Sept. 22. I haven't received any information beyond my initial acceptance email. Has anyone received an admissions packet with further information for students prior to starting the program? I am a planner and it's really starting to bug me that I haven't gotten anything else. I have contacted my admissions advisor and she assures me something will arrive. Anybody receive anything like this yet? Thanks!!!

It's interesting to read all of the comments here. I'm planning to move to CA is August for a New Grad RN Residency program. The job market is tough for new grads right now and these programs seem to be a great option.

Here is the information I got back from her when I emailed: in June call the nursing resources at 3108256868 for a new hire appt for early july and ohf at 3108256771 for physical. Make sure you have your ip of you don't have board date and cpr is current. Also tb needs to be less than a year. I'm just really unsure of what all I need to do. I am moving from Ohio and I am trying to figure out when to move. Not sure if I should just move in July when I need to be there for new hire physical, or if I should move in August. They haven't given me a start date yet, just August sometime. I'm not sure what OHF is (employee health??) or ip (something to do with NCLEX?). I have already passed my boards, so will just need to get endorsement from California Board of Nursing, I think. I'm just a little confused. When I was offered and accepted the position I was giving any information about salary or really any details at all. I know they gave me hand-outs about benefits and such when I interviewed, so I have all that. Maybe I'm just being a little hyperactive because I'm a major planner...it just makes me al little uncomfortable to plan such a big move without something in writing! Also, on a side note, how do you like it? I had been debating between UCLA and Vandy for awhile before deciding. Any like/dislikes you would be willing to share? Thanks again!

For all of you who received offers from UCLA: Did you receive an official offer letter and, if so, when? I received a verbal offer from the manager I interviewed with at Mattel Children's last week, but I haven't gotten any other details from them. I emailed the nurses recruiter and I'm not getting a lot of help from her thus far. She replies to me with short responses using acronyms that I feel only those familiar with UCLA Med Center would know...I'm getting a little turned off by this. Just hoping I will receive something more official with further details.

So, just when I had assumed I hadn't gotten a job, I received an offer for the pediatric new grad residency program last night. I also have an offer from Vanderbilt for their new grad residency program in peds. I am thrilled to have the choice, but I am HIGHLY overwhelmed. I live in Ohio, so either would be a move for me. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, opinions, or insight. Everything I have read basically says that both programs are great...just don't know what to do! And words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Hi Jones.ah! Congrats to you, as well!! I live in Columbus, near Hilliard. How about you? I will probably be moving down at the end of June, as that is when my current lease is up. It's crazy to look for places to live in a city I know nothing about!!I graduated in March and just took NCLEX today (yikes!). I haven't looked too much into Tenn BON info yet, because I'm just stressing about whether I passed or not. As soon as I find out, I am going to look into that! I think it will be great and probably a lot easier for you to just take your boards there! Are you excited to start? I can't wait!! I'm wondering when they're going to send out info packets...hoping it's sooner rather than later : )

Hi there! I am an ADN graduate with a previous BA in Psychology. My ADN GPA was 3.97. I did not have any patient care or externship hours, but I applied for the pediatric track and have been working as a clinical research assistant at a large children's hospital for two years.
