  1. Yes it is. I'm doing my MSN through College Network and the Regis in Denver online. I got a discount for taking the College Network courses first. U of A is $$
  2. I'm also very interested in this program and wanted to get opinions. I have been a nurse for about 10 years and see this as the vehicle to promotion in my current job.
  3. I have been a nurse for about 8 years. My hospital is doing my training. But I'm looking @ the long and distant future and will burn-out if I stay on the floor much longer. I'm excited as well about the new opportunity!
  4. WOW.... carolinapooh NAILED IT!. and trust me folks she know's what she talking about! If you can keep it together for 5 weeks....to destined for a great AF career.
  5. I'm doing the same. I can't take it anymore on the floor. I'm starting next month in the OR. I have some experience from working as in CNA in Pre-op OR and PACU. Good Luck
  6. I have been in nursing for 8 years and trying to get on with the OR team. I can't take the floor anymore and hoping this is finally the right fit!
  7. thank you for posting this! this information has been very helpful as i'm considering a new job at a ltc as the staff development & infection control nurse.
  8. i was given a separation code of gda? no one knows what it means. is it a typo? can you pm me please
  9. Can anyone give me some input on Page Hospital?
  10. i was already contacted about one of the openings and the response was basically that i wasn't selected. i bet job are competitive in the summer. careerbuilder is offering positions at the hospital but i thought it would be easier directly through banner.
  11. I was told that we can’t solicit donations and drop the AF name. All we can say is that we are a local hospital.
  12. I have been in the AF 6 months now a on the committee for our hospital's nurses week. I'm looking for suggestions of gift ideas and ways to raise $$$ to buy the gifts? We have about 120 poeple to buy for.
  13. I would start taking OTC iron and have your blood redrawn by your doctor and submitt the results to the recruiter.
  14. I'm trying to get a summer contract with Page Hospital. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?
  15. Carolinapooh I PM's you.
  16. A swift kick in the pants! My nursing instructors were EVIL!
  17. What would be an appropriate hourly rate to ask for? I'm making about $30
  18. Does a CM earn the same hourly rate as a floor nurse?
  19. I'm interviewing this week for a CM job. Getting out of the AF and this interview came up. Any questions I should ask during my interview?
  20. sorry if i seem crabby in my last few posts but i get tired of reading posts that have nothing to do with the subject heading. i think this thread is starting to get off track. no one cares about being a millionaire; just want advice about being an np or becoming an np and realistic salary. go to dave ramsey's website if you want to become a millionaire.
  21. if you’re not globally deployable then you’re wasting your time. if you can’t be deployed then some else will have go and it wouldn’t be fair. the af is lean and mean. maybe five years ago you could have gotten a medical waiver and given a desk job but with the down economy, they have plenty of nurses to choose from. i would consider contract nursing on base or government (gs) nursing position on base.
  22. Apparently you are not leaving in reality either. Have you applied to school lately? Why are people always so quick to defend the underprivileged and immigrants? Is that fair to the rest of us? I’m part of the reason people want to come this country and follow their dreams. I have to six years in the military during active war to have my education paid for. Don’t tell me about having to sacrifice to get ahead!
  23. don't take this the wrong way but you said "i'm an immigrant who came to this country with pennies and didn't even speak english." those are the things that get you a free pass in america. i'm sure you didn't have to pay anything for your education. i'm a middle age white male, one of the worst things you can be for grant, loans, bonus, or opportunities. you also said you live in ny and that is why you making so much. you have to spend $24 or more just to drive car across bridges and drive through tunnels. it's all relative. you probably have no kids and live in a 2 bedroom apartment.
  24. please don't take this the wrong way but it took me three months to convince my don to pay for my acls which they required of me. i'm not sure how you had your hospital pay for you np at a private university.....i almost don't believe it. you probably owe them 20 years for paying for school or have to pay them back if you leave. i think we all have ambitions to be millionaires and retire early, however wanting and doing are very different. it sounds like you have a rich husband that took care of everything while you went to school.
  25. i haven't taken the gre yet; i have to have it done and submitted with my application december 1st. any recommendations of study time before i take the gre. i have a book but i can't find time to open it and study. i have been a nurse 7 years and work full time in the air force but getting out soon. i'm also worried about how grueling np school will be going full time with a wife and 4 kids? any suggestions or advice would be appreciated j
