How do I become a Hospice CNA?
Hi.. I'm a CNA with no experience yet.. How can I get a job in Hospice care as CNA? Will I need any other special certifications to qualify for this type of job? I know experience may be important so I dont really care where I get my first CNA job but eventually I would definately like to get into hospice.. I am going to take an "end of life care" class online through my local community college just for the extra experience and to make myself more marketable to potential employers.. Any other suggestion?

had a cna interview today and I think I blew it!
Have you ever felt like you did terrible on an interview? Did you get really nervous and fidgety? When asked an interview question did you give a dumb answer? Did you ramble on and on and the things you were saying seemed to come out sounding stupid and off topic? When asked if you have any questions did your mind go blank? I did all of the above today and I feel like crying!!! Have you have had a interview go bad and still recieve a job offer? Also I told them that I would prefer if they didnt contact my present employer but they can contact the previous ones? Will that make me look bad? God I hope the fact that they really need cnas over-ride that fact that I'm a total idiot!!

No HS diploma or GED, but is a CNA?
I dont understand why people think just because a person didnt finish highschool it makes them less intelligent or a bad person... I think that having a clean criminal background record is more important than knowing what the sqaure root of such and such when it comes to being a cna Highschool doesnt really teach you to be kind, caring and patient.

this just upsets me..
Yeah, I'm sure the time will pass by fast. but hopefully some people will not show and I can take there spots! if not, I talked to my friend today and she told me that she will be going to the same school in Jan. not for cna but just for some college courses. So thats a plus, feels good to have friends close by. but although I am very upset, I thinking I'm starting to feel a little better.. thanks guys!!

this just upsets me..
hello everyone, Yesterday registrations began for cna classes. I was so excited and eager to go first thing to sign up! yesterday, I went to go sign up but spent so much time driving to the place, when I got there I didnt have time to go in and register because I had to work. Anyways it was nothing, I was like oh well I guess I can register tomorrow considering I have or should I say "had" from August 3 to September 1, but today when I went around 3pm, guess what classes were FILLED!! what? filled? ALREADY? Anyway, I'm so uspet and saddened. I was really looking foward to starting classes in september. I had no Idea classes would fill so fast! now I have to wait another 3 or 4 months:banghead: They put me on a waiting list with 9 other people so I guess I'm the 10th person. Is there any hope that some people will not show and I will be able to replace their spots or is that not likely? please someone, I know I'm just venting but I want some advice please! now I guess I will just have to return to my horrible job knowing that I will be there for a while longer. They are offering classes at a tech school but the price is much higher and even I dont know if they are full yet.. I just feel like it would be better If I took my classes at the community college.. now I dont know what to do.

getting a job as a cna...
please help me out... I really want to start cna classes in september:heartbeat. but I really dont want to waste my time or money... I need to know what you think about how easy it would get a job as a cna during these tough economy times or even just in general?? My bf who always has something negative say:uhoh3: had something to say about how i may sit at home for a year before I find a job! frankly I think it would be quite easy because I'm sure cnas are always needed. I was so excited about starting classes until he put his 2cents in. now I'm worried. I want to give it a try anyway, but I dont want him to say I told you so. I just really wish that he would just support me. Is there anyone out there who has gotten certified as a cna and with no luck with find a job yet? If so how long have you been looking? I'm in St Louis MO. anyone else????

JUST SO ANXIOUS...
are you paying for your classes? Or are you taking them through a nursing home facility that will cover expenses for you, in return for you as one of their employees? because if your paying most likely you will get accepted... Here, from what I understand is, all you have to do is register before the classes fill! Thats why I chose to pay for my classes on my own, because I didnt want to worry about if I will be accepted or not. Good luck to you though!!!

Cost of CNA class
That's wayyyy to much!!! possibly you accidentally added an extra zero? or perhaps your not talking about cna classes.. Here at the community college you can take the cna classes for $350 and at a technical school for $590! not to mention the nursing home programs that offer the classes for free!! !

Horror Stories be gone!

cna class info plz...
Hello, I am planning to start CNA classes As soon as they are available. They are offering cna classes at a technical school her for $590 and at the local community college for $350. Before, I was worried that the classes offered at the community college would offer less, seeing that the price is way cheaper. I posted a thread and someone said that doesn't mean anything... anyone agrees with that? And also I found out today that the community college classes are shorter also(8wks). I am worried because I do want to take the cheaper classes but I would rather get all that I can receive from these classes. I don't want to lack anything less than what another class would have offered. Can anyone tell me if there may be a difference in the two? And also Can someone please Tell me exactly how these programs usually work. I know that there is first the classes then the clinical, and then the certification test, I guess... I want to know the whole process that I will have to go through. Can someone help!?
