  1. Thanks Steph, and congrats!!! I was going to see if I could juggle a full time job, however I think that further research and conversations with you great people has decided for me really. It will be part time at best. I really appreciate the responses and time you all took to respond, I know schedules are crazy. :loveya:
  2. At my current non-nursing job that is supporting me through school, it is the same situation. I hold onto the knowledge that 1. what they think does not matter, and 2. someday they will be just a floor supervisor, or administrator, and I will be making a better life when i start researching and teaching. It keeps me going.
  3. I am reading a book that I think you should get. It is short, simple to read and almost bulleted (I have to read things like this with my schedule). It is called "Dont sweat the small stuff and its all small stuff" by Richard carlson. Corny and stupid as the phrase sounds, there is a chapter in there about making peace with imperfection. He basically says that by focusing on how things are not getting perfectly done, we are taking away from our happiness and focus on where it should be (school of marriage). M may not know how important a clean table is. I suggest you explain why things bother you so much. I know for me when I come home from a crazy day at school I want my house perfect so Ic an relax. Guess what? It will never happen, your inbox is never supposed to be empty sweetheart.
  4. Good Morning, I am taking pre-reqs at this time with the hopes of entering TCC's nursing program in fall 2010 or spring 2011. I have done some research on the class times, and it looks like there is not a lot of offerings to accomodate full-time work schedules. The clinicals alone look like 12 hour stints. Of course, my research could be faulty. Has anyone gone through the program and worked full time? If so, how did you do it since I do not see how someone can take distance courses (I do not see any offered), and if clinicals are 12 hours in the day...well let's just say that I do not know how anyone stays sane doing 12 hours clinicals, 8 hour work day, and studying. Maybe that is my issue...I want to expect to stay sane...:chuckle
  5. I am taking pre-reqs right now, hoping to apply to the nursing program at TCC in 2011. I saw that someone mentioned pharm and med term as "bonus" classes...does anyone know if that still applies? I would def. take them if it helps my standing to get in! Thanks!!
  6. I think that maybe a letter to your local city council, mayor, highway partrol, etc stating how many accidents and so forth you witness at this intersection would be the best pro-active action. Maybe, if they get enough feedback, they will put in a light, or make the intersection safer. As to feeling guilty, nothing to be guilty for. Just because you became a nurse does not make you responsible to help 24/7. If that was true, then lawyers should stop at every accident as well as medical...
  7. I am a female and I get frustrated with the students in my class in general. Regardless of sex. I really avoid socializing with them, so the only thing I hear is them complaining to the instructor.... Good luck to learning to tune it out, and on your future as a nurse
