WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY A "DECENT NEIGHBORHOOD"? I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN BROOKLYN, BTW I STILL LIVE THERE. I MOVED OUT OF NY FOR 1 YEAR AND 1/2 AND WENT TO NEW ORLEANS, WHERE CRIME WAS/IS HORRIFIC! CRIME IN NYC ON THE WHOLE IS THE LOWEST EVER. BROOKLYN IS THE BEST! THE NETS ARE MOVING HERE AND THEY ARE ALSO BUILDING A FILM STUDIO AT THE BROOKLYN NAVY YARD AND BTW THERE A PLANS TO EXPAND THE PIER. YES THERE ARE A FEW BAD APPLES HERE, BUT THAT IS EVERYWHERE. RENT USED TO BE MORE AFFORDABLE IN BKLYN BUT NOW WORD HAS GOTTEN OUT THAT BROOKLYN IS THE PLACE TO BE AND RENT HAS SHOT UP TREMENDOUSLY. THIS IS ALSO DUE TO THE FACT THAT PEOPLE ARE MOVING BACK TO THE CITY FROM THE SUBURBS. IF YOU WANT TO MOVE TO JERSEY, THAT'S FINE BUT IF YOU WORK IN NY YOU'LL GET TAXED DOUBLED AND YOUR COMMUTE WILL COST YOU MORE. AS I STATED EARLIER, I'VE LIVED IN BKLYN ALL OF MY LIFE AND I'VE NEVER HAD ANY FEAR OF LEAVING MY DOORS UNLOCKED OR TAKING STROLLS DURING ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT. Hey, I graduated from CMSV in 1995 as a communications major. I remember helping to dry many tears from nursing students that failed clinicals. It's a very good nursing school I regret not getting my degree from them. Good Luck!

I'm presently attending the FOB school in Canarsie Brooklyn. It's a pretty good school. The total for the class is approximately $750.00, however your can pay in installments and you are not kicked out until you are finished. You can finish at your leisure. I also took the CPR course for $50.00 (optional). The same course at the Red Cross is $100.00. I attend every Sunday so I've been there forever. I just started my internship this weekend. Anyway, they are also located in Brooklyn. You take the 2 train to Newkirk Avenue and it's right across the street, I couldn't attend because evening classes start at 6pm and I leave work at 5:30 in NYC. Anyway, the cost is $600.00 if you pay in installments, if you pay in full it is $500 or $550 (I forgot.) They don't have a website. PS. The Allen School now costs $1400.00 and I've heard a lot of complaints about them through current and former students. Don't trust any school that won't give you any information up front. Good luck

What a coincidence! I spoke with the dean and as a result she withdrew me from class on Friday, May 7th. I have been complaining for awhile and I was told to wait and see if things can be resolved. Let me tell you what the professor told me. She wanted me to meet her the same day. However, she wasn't aware that I was speaking with the dean. She graded my last exam. She took off points for not writing 2 or 3 sentences and leaving the word different out. Yes folks! I am still talking about Math class. We also had a paper to write and she corrected me for not writing definitions. Yes, math class not English, which by the way I am already taking. Anyway, she wanted me to take a wu or an incomplete. Let me make this very clear I was not failing the class nor was I in danger of failing the class. A wu and an incomplete are both F's!!!!!!! Why would you offer a student, who is passing the class an F grade? I'll let you guys think about it. I've developed my own theory. Anyway, after she seen the look on my face she said that she would speak with the math and nursing departments' liaison and see what he suggests. I don't know the results of that because I never saw the witch again! HOORaY! Although, the class didn't like the professor either they refused to speak up and be heard. I know that I am only one voice but sometimes that is all that it takes. Besides, I wasn't telling them anything that they didn't already know. I went to the math department last night to see if a particular teacher would be teaching math 104 in the summer or fall and I happened to mention the witch. Another professor told me that she is horrible. Students have complained about her before when she taught Math 100. Why isn't she a good teacher? She doesn't know how to teach. She is constantly being corrected by the class and is a dingbat. She even tested us on something that she never taught. When the class complained she offered to subtract 2 points as opposed to 5 points from our grade. She offered this even after admitting that she knew that she never taught that. I hate to have to take the class over again after all of this time and money; however, I rather take it over than get kicked out of the program for that idiot. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. I'm glad that someone finally spoke up so that you all know that I am not making this up. This is really happening. I'm not just complaining, I am indeed warning you. Also, I was told from someone else on this website that they are no longer taking any more students for the evening class. I graduated from CMSV with a Bachelors in Communications. I was not remotely interested in nursing at the time. All I can say is that the program is very hard and students dropped like flies during clinicals. A lot of tears were shed. I graduated in 1995 so a lot may have changed. I don't know. Also, there are a lot of scholarships given to Filipino students. Former President of the Phillipines Corazon Aquino graduated from there. I hope I was able to help somewhat. PS. If you live on campus, it is a great place to study. It is so peaceful and tranquil. I loved being on campus.

I met with the math teacher yesterday, her choice. She graded my latest exam I got a 73%, as of this date my average is a 75.6%, excluding my last test and the final that is worth 35% of the grade. I reiterated my situation. She tried to advise me to take a WU which is an F. Then she suggested that I take an incomplete, which is also an F, besides I have completed all of my work. She then said that she will speak with the liaison of the math and nursing department to see what he suggests. She asked me to give her until Friday. I'm not looking for an A, although it would be nice, I just want a B. I don't see the problem if you add my attendance and class participation and homework and that stupid paper that I had to write which she said would be worth 5% of the grade. Am I being unreasonable or asking for too much? Anyway, I spoke with the dean she said to let her know by Monday whether or not I want to drop the class.

I've also heard that Hunter had an excellent nursing program many years ago. You're right, you get what you paid for.

Someday soon. My husband and I plan to move to Plano! I love it there. We just visited my brother in laws last month.

I already have a BA degree. I've also attended four different schools in acquiring my degree: Pace University, BMCC, City College (visiting student) and The College of Mount Saint Vincent. When I attended BMCC in the past I gave it rave reviews now from what I have seen and heard I beg to differ. When teachers don't go to class, don't return your assignments on time, if at all. Don't teach at all, quickly skim through material and expect you to learn it. Test you on things not covered on the chapters assigned. Last but not least, students are evicted out of the class that they paid for before time during every class because the student union wants to give a party and security has to secure the building, I think my "one bad experience" should be mentioned and taken seriously. Furthermore, when I registered for a three hour class x times per week and the school accepted payment, an implied contract took place. Well, I didn't get what I paid for. I am not telling anyone not to attend BMCC. I just believe that everyone has a right to make an informed decision. I don't buy into this being "politically correct" thing. I believe in keeping it real. I am going to give you the truth, as I see it. We are all on this board for the same reasons to give as well as receive advice and to give moral support. As busy as my schedule is (work full-time, BMCC part-time and CNA school part-time) it pisses me off that I have to teach myself nursing math, my worst subject, this is a class that is needed (I believe) for the state boards. Later this afternoon, I will have a follow up meeting with the dean of students concerning these issues. Understand my frustration and wish me will.
