I LOVE the book, "Oh, the Places You'll Go! and my favorite line from it: “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go! My first semester lab teachers kept this book in our classroom and would read it when we needed a pick-me-up!

I used the Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX Review Book as well as the Prentice Hall Reviews & Rationales: Medical-Surgical Nursing (2nd ed). Both of these books helped me focus in on important material after reading in my regular textbook. Definitely my must haves!

Hello everyone, Since this semester is winding down, I am looking into getting all my supplies and have a question about the uniforms and shoes. I have seen some ppl buying their uniforms online at allheart or another online store but they don't mention anything specific. Is there a specific top we need to get like does it need to be pleated, etc. or would any of the white button up ones be fine? If someone could post a link of something they bought online that would be great. Also, for shoes. Since you guys have been through this before, I would love to know what you bought and if they were comfortable. On the flip side, if you bought one brand and found it to be horrible, please let us know! Thanks! Christina

Here is the requirements for WCCCD: http://www.wcccd.edu/academic/pdfs/NUR.pdf It is recommended that you take the coreqs (the classes listed above WITH the nursing classes) before you start your nursing classes, so you have more time to devote to just nursing and then clinicals. This would mean you'd take Lifespan, Nutrition, Patho, Sociology, Medical Math, Eng II, and the Government class BEFORE you actually start the program. Hope this helps and try and sit down with a counselor to really get a feel for what you need to do. Especially if you are confused! ~Christina

I agree with most everyone on here. I read the chapters faithfully and found a great online bone tutor that helped. I took notes emphasizing points the professor might always highlight. I also went into the lab to look and touch those bones as much as possible. If you have open lab hours, use them! I used youtube ALOT. This helped in AP2 and Patho where students uploaded labs going over bones, arteries, etc. If there was some lecture I needed clarification on, I also went to youtube to look it up and see if listening to another lecture would help. I have done this in all science classes I have taken thus far and have gotten all A's thus far. I begin the nursing program next semester and am soo excited!! ~Chrissy

I have heard the same camjones. I am meeting with an advisor next week. I am very interested in the program and I know I'm going to have a wait, I just hope, it's not as long as they say. I still have some pre-reqs to fill anyway so that comes to a question I'm considering: Has anyone taken the A&P class condensed in the summer? I don't know if it would be advantagous for me to do this since it will be the last prereq I will need to get on the list (and taking the NET or TEAS, not sure how the transition will be). I do work full time and I really want to do well in the class. I'd just like to know of anyone that did take the condensed version and can tell me just how hard it was! Thanks, Christina
