  1. I can tell you I feel EXACTLY the same way!! I am a Pedi RN that has been off Orientation a little over 2 months and I can relate to how you feel. I have great support where I work and the Nurses are always there to cheer me up and tell me Im exactly where I should be for being a new Nurse.. At times I feel in total control and just as quick as that feeling comes it ends.. It has been a very busy summer on Pedi and I have felt pulled in many different directions and just try my best, 110% every day to be the best nurse I can be, altho I know the expereinced Nurses can do a ton better.. Just keep telling yourself, My patients are getting the care they need, the medicine they need, the proper admission and discharge and if it takes 20 min longer then others then so be it.. As long as your patients are under your care 110% everything else is secondary.. I still stay till 900 (im day RN) charting and I hate it but my patients are the priority. I believe in time we will all be the nurses we dream of, or as I like to call them :Super Nurse: but for now Im happy being on the road to getting there! Just think how far you have come since school!
  2. I also am new RN and start my FIRST job on Pedi/PICU April 6th! I am sooo excited but sooo nervous! I have been reviewing my Pedi Nursing made Incerdibly easy as a Brush up on commone Pedi diseases (CF, Rotavirus, Asthma, post op ect.) I also got a 1/2" Binder and with dividers to help time management and keep organized. I have watched my preceptors as well as others and I think for me this will work best! I hope!! Good Luck!! Fill me in on what else I need to do! :)
  3. I am so sorry!!! I know the process of Boards and how grueling it is but you CAN NOT give up! Kaplan is amazing for review of content and the Qbank and Qtrainers are HARD, terribly HARD, which will prepare you even more for whatever they may throw at you during NCLEX. I studied every day (Fri night and Sat Free day) and would study content 3 days a week and then questions and review rationales the rest of the time. Good Luck!
  4. :yeah: CONGRATS!!! :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat Enjoy the moment, I have been on cloud 9 since Thursday am at 915am!! Enjoy and Congratulations!! Good Luck in the future!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!
  5. I am so happy and proud to post I :redbeathe PASSED :redbeathe at 75 questions, which makes a total 0f 12 from my nursing class and only one to fail at 265.. I believe your odds at failing at 75 aren't are as poor as when you get into the upper numbers, NOT that it means you fail, it just seems like there is more of a chance.. I can finally breathe after a HORRIBLE 48 hours and a HORRIBLE 3 months of studying, I am DONE!!!!!! Keep the faith and confidence at whatever number you end up the only thing that matters is that you will be a RN!!
  6. I get to be one of those people to say.... I PASSED!!!! I hope you found ur resluts out to day too Jhanessa!!!! I found out 915 this am and was in tears with my mom.. I could not believe it!!! I hope you fond the same!! XOXO
  7. I believe Kaplan was GREAT in studying fo rBoards BUT NCLEX was nothing like thier Qtrainers or Qbanks.. I took the in-class and online Kaplan review. I found it great for studying but when it came down to Boards, the test itself was much more complicated then any on Kaplan.. and for MOST I could not you the decision tree or ABC's. However with that being said I brough up my scores from a 64 on the first exam to mid 70s and even an 87 on Kaplans Qbank! Obviously thier approach helps but I didnt find it helpful for boards at all.. I kinda depended on it since I felt semi-confident upon Kaplan Readiness Test (Boards Preditor) I got a 71 which predicts you pass Boards at 98-99% chance. I however HIGHLY doubt I did.. Just didnt do well enough. I know it. Less then 20 hours till I find out so only time will tell.. I would def. reccomend Kaplan but dont rely on kaplan.. If that makes sense..
  8. I understand your anxiety and fer I just took my NCLEX on Tuesday It was AWFUL!! I stopped at 75 but apparently numbers dont mean anything. However, one of my Kaplan Instructors did say when you get to 265 the last ? you answer is the one that decides if you pass or fail... Thats the only thing I can telly ou for sure about the 265. I hear people passing all the time with 265! Infact I rather have had 265 then 75! Good Luck and hope you get results soon!! I get mine tomorrow am.. :heartbeat
  9. I absolutely will.. :heartbeat I just have a horrid gut feeling for myself.. I hate that I remember all the ?s leaving an exam cause then I look them up like crazy and find out I got all the ones I wasn't "sure about" wrong, which was a lot this exam. I wish I had more then the 75 to regain myself! I just don't thinkt ehre was anyway I pulled this off.. No studying or review could have prepared me for this exam. I have already started checking pearson, Im officially losing it. Good LUCK and my prayers and thoughts are with you, for I know exactly what anguish you are feeling right now!
  10. I took my Exam this am and feel exactly the same way.... i stopped at 75 which apparently means nothing anyway. I have always had a CRAZY habit of remembering ?s and looking them up when I was done with an exam (alll thru nursing school, I did this) and yes even on boards I did as well. It turns out I did not do well at all! I can remember at leastew 20 out of the "60" real ?s I was tested on and find the answers myself right in Saunders and the others Im just not sure of cause there is no way to look them up. I am sick to my stomach and am 95% sure I failed, the 5% is for pure HOPE.. I did Kaplan review in class-room and online and was a great student all thru nursing school. Boards is completely over-whelming and I studied months and hours (I even quit my job!) I just know exactly how u feel.. I had 3 math ?s and 3 SATA and a TON if infection control, a few priority and meds and renal. The only positive is I get results onThursday and you poor thing have to wait weeks! THAT IS SO MEAN!!! Why do they do that??? Me heart and prayers go out to you, for on this night you are not alone.
  11. I had 75 Questions, 3 Math, 4 SATA and LOTS of Infections control... I feel like I def. failed.. i reviewed the ?s I remembered (which were prob 20) in book and maybe got 8 correct.. Im sick to my stomach and I think its cruel they make us wait for our results. I cant imagine going thru this all over again, exp. since I will lose my job that I currently have waiting for me a an RN...
  12. Well this really stinks... :0( I just took boards today and got the 75 ?'s that I soooo prayed for, it seems that no one I knew from my graduating class or others ever knew anyone that failed at 75. Im sure it does happen, nothing is impossible. But I have to believe that MOST people that get 75?s PASS.. It just makes sense. If you are doing VERY poor on all your answers then you would fail at any number but if you are doing so-so it seems that they would advance you to the next set of ?s and if you stayed above the baseling with ?s then hopefully you pass at 75.. Im just tryign to stop myself from freaking out.. I have till Thurs am. I thought this was the WORST exam ever. I was a high B student thru out school, Passed Mid Semester HESI and End Semester HESI and took Kaplan Review and I dont think there is any possible way I could have done any better. I just cant wait to Thursday....
  13. Hi Everyone!! I have been on the NCLEX roller coaster since Graduation in Decemeber and am finally down to to the last 36 hours before exam! I test Feb 24th at 8am in NJ... I have prepared to the fullest.. Kaplan Review online and in class, Saunders book to supplement and countless Qbanks (high 60's to low 70s) and Qtrainers.. No matter what Kaplans Predictor says I am terrified to take this exam! I have a Pediatric job waiting for me to start April 6th and I have heard nothing but horrow stories about no ammount of studying is enough for boards... I am reviewing all exams I took and doing one more Qbank before I stop all testing. I give you all credit that have gone thru this and passed or went back for a 2cnd time.. I think the waiting is going to be even worse then the actual test. Thank God NJ finds out in 48 hours, I would move just to not be part of the cruel 2 week wait Ca. has... Seriously! Good Luck to ALL! :heartbeat
  14. Congratulations!!! I am HOPING I will feel the same sweet relief come Feb 26th! I take boards the 24th and I can NOT even IMAGINE not studying anymore... And I can not IMAGINE the excitement and happiness that comes with a PASS on Boards.. Enjoy yourself and BE PROUD of your wonderful accomplishment (as Im sure u are!) :heartbeat
  15. I also just finished my last Kaplan Review Class and sit for Boards Feb 24th... We were also required to take 2 HESI exams (mid-semester and final semester). I believe as a Nursing graduate you HAVE the knowledge to be a RN, you have sat for endless exams, studied hours and hours and GRADUATED! I liked Kaplan review because it was focused on how to understand NCLEX NOT review material that we already know. Of course with that being said I review DAILY (obssesively.. actually) BUT I find that with proper review and Kaplans guidance I am feeling more prepared to take boards. Am I terrified and freaking out? OF COURSE! But, I KNOW I am giving 110% to prepare for my Feb 24th test date. Kaplan's test are not made to achieve 80s and 90s when testing, the low grades of 50 and 60s are actually where they want you at! This scares a lot of people away, i mean, when has it EVER been ok to get a 60? BUT with Kaplan the truly test you as if you were taking Nclex. If you are scoring 65% and better you have a 98-99% chance to pass Boards first time! and if you are Borderline with high 50s and low 60s you are still at a 90% chance to pass. I like thier level of difficulty, its not typical Saunders ?'s.. These really make you think outside of the box and I believe thats how boards will be.. Or so I hear.. I hope this helped but I HIGHLY recommend it! P.S. I had class twice a week for 5 weeks (had 2 in class tests thru Kaplan) with ACTUAL Nursing Instructors. I also had the complete online program where they have a COMPLETE review via podcast with Nursing Instructors from basic Nursing up to GI, Cardaic, Ob you name it! They also gave us a book that I found to be helpful too.. Im hoping this will work for me, but as I said before I will let u know! Good Luck !!!
  16. You are my NCLEX Angel... lol Thank you soo much for you words of encouragement! As you know it means the world to an Anxious Nclex taker to hear such wonderful news! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You must feel like a million bucks! And you should! I hope you enjoy this weekend and doodle RN ANY time you write your name down ;-) You deserve it!! I had my last Kaplan Review class last night where we reviewed our Readyness Exam (Boards Predictor) and I got a 71 which according to Kaplan puts you at a 98-99% Predicted Pass rate, so that helped for the moment to make me feel better.. lol Now back to MORE studying MORE Questions and yes the dreaded MORE waiting!!! Thank you again for the boost of confidence and reminding me that I CAN do this! CONGRATS again!!!!!! I will keep you posted!
  17. I am taking my boards the 24th so I TOTALLY relate to the anxiety of all the studying and the evil "unknown" of Nclex... I wish you MUCH success with your Nursing Career and hope the next 36 hours FLY!! Keep Positive!!
  18. I am BRAND new to this site and found it in desperate hope that I can hear good stories about everyone who passes Boards their first time rather then hearing about who did not... I have laughed with the stories I have read KNOWING exactly what you are talking about and cried hearing that all this torture and studying pays off once you find out you PASSED! Seriously sitting at my computer crying all over my notebooks in pure happiness for all that have passed! I graduated this past December and am sitting for Boards Feb 24th in NJ. I am BEYOND terrified. I did Kaplan Review classes offered at my college twice a week, and Qtrainers and Qbank and EVEN the Readiness Test which is a Kaplan predictor of Boards and got a 71! Im still only pulling 60s on qtrainers and refuse to study from anything else in fear of becoming even more over whelmed (is that possible??) I do feel that Kaplan gives you FANTASTIC strategies to answering NCLEX questions.. Or atleast i think they do.. I guess I wont really know till the 24th.. BUT with that being said, I follow thier steps and review my weak areas with thier online Nursing Instructors that ACTUALY REVIEW alllll of Nursing School major emphisis. With all that being said, I cry daily, cant sleep and can not score above 60's on Kaplan qtrainers! And I have 12 days left to NCLEX! I am so scared... Words can not describe but Im sure if you are reading this you can feel my anxiety.. I love reading the hints that are offered and the success stories mean THE WORLD to me to know people CAN and DO pass the exam the 1st time! I have been hired as a Pediatic RN starting April 6th and they are hiring based upon I pass boards on the 24th if NOT I lose this DREAM job and the reason I went to Nursing School!! Please Pray/think of me as I am and will continue to be doing the same for all of you!
