  1. Yes, I have heard both pass and fail stories... Bottom line, don't let the number of questions phase you. And once you're done it's time for a drink... either way.
  2. It's one of those things that you just need to smile and say thank you. Frustrating yes, but it's better than the nurses who won't tell you anything. It's an unfortunate part of life i guess.
  3. A few basics... your resume does not have to be just ONE page it can be TWO!!! This throws a lot of people off but people in the medical field are supposed to put jobs and clinical experience, if you can fit that in one page you have very little clinical experiene! USE ACTION VERBS (provided, maintained etc etc.) make sure to add all "special skills" foreign lang, awards, recognitions, volunteering etc etc. Look for templates from your school, they should have some. Have someone else read your before you turn it in b/c spelling errors can eliminate you.
  4. There are a handful of nursing students with kids and most of them are the smartest people in class. I think it give you a different approach to nursing and you've gone thru a lot medically when it comes to children. THe most importatn thing is TIME MANAGEMENT. Gotta have study/work/kid/FREE time. Without a balance and effective time mangement it will be almost impossible.
  5. Yes assertive! I think we learned about that in Leadership the three different kinds of RN's and Assertive is always the best choice.
  6. Huh, pant-suits really? I just may have to go shopping now...
  7. You've got to be a robot to not be scared or nervous, lol.
  8. Personally I chose NOT to study for the HESI and not because I was lazy but because I wanted to know where I was at, what I was strong with and what I needed to improve on. It worked for me.
  9. Most people think they failed, no matter how smart they appeared in classes/clinical. There are the occasional freak testers who spent 30 min had 75 questions and never broke a sweat. So just remember just about everyone feels like poo after it.
  10. I use flashcards and follow the rule of 5. STEP ONE: I take five flashcard lab values and go thru them looking at both sides of the cards a couple of times. Then I test myself on them until I get all 5 correct and set them aside. STEP TWO: Then I grab five more and follow step ONE STEP THREE: Grab all 10 cards and go thru all of them until you can get them all correct... STEP FOUR: keep going until you're done... I would not reccomend going through 100's of these at a time b/c your brain needs some free non nclex time!
  11. number of correct questions divided by total number of questions multiplied by 100 equals percentage correct.
