  1. Following this for future reference. ?
  2. Hi Everyone, I apologize in advance if this has been posted a lot with multiple replies. I have done a search on here (a few times) and didn't find the detailed information on class schedule/rough clinical set up for each semester for Samuel Merritt CRNA. I did find one reply that did state some of the classes are held over the weekend, but it wasn't in detail and honestly left me more confused than more educated on the topic. ? I am applying in the next 2-3 years. But I am a mother, I feel better something mentally planning and preparing for how the program is laid out and what I am getting myself into. I am taking my last chem and physics class in January and prepping to take GRE possibly before the semester starts in January. Any information on the program details would be greatly appreciated. I did call Samuel Merritt, and was told to attend the information session on 9/24 but unfortunately that time doesn't work for my schedule. I will be attending next year - but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask you all. Thanks for anyone who takes the time to reply. I would even appreciate anyone who did a better search than I could accomplish and just links past threads that I could read on the topic. ?
  3. I am not a manager anymore (over 10 years of business administration) or even a nurse yet - but common sense to me would say that large amounts of on the job experience should always trump a degree. Even though I am going the BSN route, nothing and I mean nothing beats being in the trenches taking grenades everyday. Clearly my personal opinion but seem logical as well
  4. I would say it is important but how important depends on the area you live in. In CA it is very important. Maybe not as important in other states? I have no idea since CA is where I am going to school and will be working.
  5. Here is a great make up product BUT only if you want to purchase good make up to make you feel comfortable - not because of what your professor said. LOL! COMPLEXION RESCUEâ„¢ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream - bareMinerals | Sephora This stuff is awesome! Very light coverage - just enough to even out your skin tone and give you a very light glow from the hydration since it is a moisturizer. Anyways good luck!
  6. We had to dissect human cadavers. I didn't realize until after how very rare this was and I feel lucky to have been given that opportunity even though it was upsetting to me to begin with.
  7. It isn't because it is full. Everyone attending usfca has to take nurs120 and nurs170 before starting any clinicals. I did the nursing tour before my acceptance and they were extremely clear that all Transfer students won't do clinicals the first semester. You can always call to ask what "not enough space" was in reference too.
  8. I got an email back from the school saying that letters were being sent out throughout all of April and that I should hear from them in a few weeks. This just lead to more frustration since I want a firm answer. Can you direct message me or email me the person who gave you the info that you are being concerned only in May. I'm a single mom of three who is likely moving out of state if I don't get an acceptance letter. So I'm frustrated they just aren't blunt with where you stand
  9. Did you email the main transfer email or did you email an individual counselor? I would like to know my official decision as well
  10. Congrats! Sounds like I would have gotten a letter then. Thanks for posting
  11. Congratulations!!!!! Can you tell me where you live? I'm about 45-an hour from the school. I'm just trying to realize if I should hold out hope. Also your stats and if you had medical experience / volunteer experience. Thanks
  12. If anyone else wants to call I realized I spoke to the operations department - that is who admissions transferred me to. In previous forums from previous application periods it seems most correct information was given out from that department. Here is hoping!
  13. Who did you speak to? I heard from just admissions that they started to review transfers and prepare letters on 4/1 and then I was transferred for more information and the lady said they haven't made decisions yet so she couldn't tell me if I got in. But she did check my file to make sure everything was in. She said they would be mailed by the end of the week. She said she couldn't tell me when the second wave of acceptance letters would be sent just yet because they were just notified that the letters were being mailed this week. I sure hope the lady I spoke to was right because I haven't received anything yet and I don't think it would take longer than two days to get to me.
  14. Since I'm an impatient woman - I called USFCA yesterday and was transferred to the department where they mail out acceptance letters. The woman advised me that she just learned that day (4/3) that they are mailing out the first round of acceptance letters for nursing transfers by Friday of this week (4/7). I would love for someone else to call to verify this information. I called admissions and they transferred me to the department that mails out the letters. Anyways let me know if anyone of you guys calls!
  15. Hi there! I'm a USFCA hopeful for Fall 2017. I'm very nervous about getting in because I don't have any medical experience at all. No volunteer or paid - so I feel like I'm automatically out of the running. But I'm still trying to put positive thoughts into all my other strong areas. My overall gpa is only a 3.62 but it was from my very first semester back to college after 12 years of no school, and they were all business classes. Every semester since has been all As. I'm hoping since they take a holistic approach they will see that I was just trying to figure out what I wanted to do and since then I have been a great student. My nursing and science/math gpa is a 4.0. I do feel like my personal statement was extremely strong and without knowing it I expressed all the key points that USFCA stood for - that just happens to be what I stood for as well. I got pretty hopeful on the tour I took last Friday and listening to what they value. I also got three very detailed/strong letters of recommendation for teachers. One science, one English, one math. I'm hoping since my teachers expressed how much they knew me and my struggles and the things I persevered through (single mom three kids; financial hardships, managing my past heart failure health issues, battling the education system for my daughter's dyslexia, etc - all while going to school full time) - that it will help me be a stronger candidate. Because of my lifestyle I don't have much time for groups and clubs or volunteer. I feel like that is another negavtive I have to over come. fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!! Your guys stats are so strong, it's making me nervous! Amanda
  16. I am applying to the ABSN in NV for summer - but your post possibly changes my mind. I want to go to grad school and a 3.0 won't cut it. I will be calling the school and speaking someone about this. That's awful that they changed that! 90% is an A - why they wouldn't put that on a transcript is beyond me. I agree that their block system looks so amazing!!! I could see myself doing really well taking on one class at a time. But it's not worth a base line gpa to me since grad school isn't an option for my desired career path. I'm glad you posted this.
  17. Hi there- I'm thinking about moving and starting Roseman's 16 month program in July. I need heavily detailed information about schedules. I'm a single mom of three who I would be taking with me (clearly alone with no family help.) Before everyone tells me it is impossible I have done the 2 years of nursing prerequisites with VERY minimal help - with having to be in class. ZERO flexibility. I do know this would be a very large change for us all but I can't imagine taking on a longer program when I could be past the school stage. I really need to start working to provide for these babies. My main questions are what does a normal week and month look like? 1. Does the online didication allow for flexibility? Aka a sick kid? If yes or no please explain. I need to figure out ALL possible worst case scenarios that would cause me to fail and set up plans on how to be successful in them now. 2. What I'm the most worried about is the clinicals and getting a night shift. That one I likely couldn't handle if the school wasn't willing to work with me. Did anyone have similar problems? Was there a solution to this? I actually want to be a night shift nurse but I can't until I move back home where their dad lives. 3. Do you ever get breaks? If so explain. 4. Any other important advice that could help me prepare for not just school but juggling this task of graduating as soon as possible. 5. I do have family members would want be able to accommodate - aka come out stay with my kids - for a few night shifts as long as I have enough notice. How many days before your schedule clinicals do you receive your schedule? OOOHH! And has anyone ever heard that they didn't receive a job because they were in an ABSN program? I want to be a nicu nurse at UCSF benioff when I graduate (goal of mine) and I don't want them to decline me because I went through an accerlated program. Thanks everyone! :) Amanda edited for errors
  18. Can someone tell me how long the transfer BSN program is at university of San Francisco. Their website just gives examples of how long it would take if I was freshman without any transfer units. Thanks in advance. Fall 2017 Hopeful
  19. Does anyone have a link to John Muir's New Grad program?
  20. I am in the process of turning in my Fall 2017 application. I take my TEAS test at the end of February. Anyone else on here looking to transfer to Sac State in 2017?
  21. I have taken anatomy and physiology and microbiology all at a different semester. I did take my chemistry requirement with anatomy and while I did get As in both classes - it sucked. It is doable to take all three and pass but I would be surprised if someone took all three and got As plus a forgein language. Nothing is impossible but I would assume going through all three classes in one semester with As is insanely rare.
  22. Yea and don't come to Northern California - most new grads are climbing over each other for interships vs paying jobs because 95% of hospitals REQUIRE one year work experience. Supply and demand is killing the wages for new grads in my opinion.
  23. Hi there! I am also new to posting (been lurking for a long while) and don't know how to send a message with my email. Can you send me your power points? [email protected] Thanks! Amanda
  24. Hello, I have been lurking on this site for a few weeks. I figured it would be best to come on here and obtain some advice on the questions I should be asking the vocational colleges I am contacting. I am looking at their LVN programs. I would like to one day become a certified nurse midwife. I understand the LONG road that comes with that title but I am happy to start it. Any advice?!
